Hidden Gem - a labor of love (with gluten free rice flour options!). This is not like a Mexican bakery, where the options are odd, dry and dissatisfying. This place is Guatemalan and has much tastier treats! Heartier, higher quality ingredients. My favorite right now is the rice flour cake (gluten free) called a "quesadilla" which is not to be mistaken with the Mexican tortilla stuffed with cheese (this is Guatemalan). The lunch options are not always well documented, but it's fun to discover what's good by asking questions.
The neighborhood is blessed to have it - it's a true labor of love.
A fabulous Guatamalan bakery. Everything is always fresh. Today I tried a "cortada" sweet bread for a delicious snack! And of course the empanadas are irresistible. I will be returning regularly for their breads now that it's soup season.
To Die For Guatemalan Pastries. It was my go-to place for breakfast nearly every morning when I worked in the neighborhood. The pineapple empanadas are heavenly. The tamales are exceptional, too. Everything is good.
