Visited my brother in Kalamazoo and the kitchen in the long term rental is the smallest kitchen on the face of the earth. So we chose to drive 50 minutes southeast of downtown Kalamazoo, to have River Lake’s Thanksgiving buffet. Best decision ever. We talked about how great it was the entire time we ate and the entire drive back. The food was PHENOMENAL. What a wonderful well served event.
HATS OFF to the chef and staff who CONTINUOUSLY restocked the buffet items and cleared empty plates and tables.
Pictures aren’t great but they had everything holiday protein and enough side staples to satisfy anyone. Roast beef, Turkey and ham were moist, flavorful and wonderful. And of course, the mashed potatoes was a star of the show. Took all of me not to go back just for a plate of mashed potatoes and gravy.
Food was good. Service was above average. Disappointed that all of the specials were not presented to us. Ordered Walleye which was good however the next table was told about Salmon and lamb options which were not on the menu or told to us by our waitress. If we had been told I would have given 5 stars to service. Walleye was good. Mushroom artichoke sauce had no artichokes and only one mushroom piece. Was good but a little lack luster.
First time dining here and it was great! We enjoyed good service and delicious food. Yes its a little outdated, and has an old English décor to it, but it was clean and cozy. The food was good quality as well. I would definitely dine here again!
