Easily the best pulled pork, hush puppies slaw and warm vinegar base sauce I have experienced since Allen & Sons outside Chapel Hill, NC. That is saying a lot, seeing as I first had Allen & Sons in 1973, and have tried every Q joint I could find since then. Why can't the competition realize that cool or even room temperature sauce just does not work as well as heated or warmed. Midwood- great smoked qualities...excellent mix of charred, lean and not-so-lean , and just a bit on the dry side, which is where the warm sauce enters the scene. I assume that Midwood mixes juices from the barbecued pork drippings, gleaned from the smoking stage, right into the vinegar and pepper sauce, which makes the dish. I do hope to go back, and am thrilled to find such a treat in the Palmetto State. At the top of my list, and I haven't even tried their ribs, burnt ends or briscuit yet! Gotta go back for more.
This place was hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had. I ordered the burnt ends, bacon wrapped jalapeños and the banana pudding. The burnt ends were juicy and full of flavor. The bacon wrapped jalapeño were loaded with flavor and had just the right amount of kick. The large banana pudding was outstanding. They also have a nice selection of bourbon. I highly recommend this place.
We stopped by Thursday and discovered they had brisket! We are from Texas and we love to smoke some brisket at home. The food was delicious and the Texas brisket sandwiches was a hit. My son had the brisket plate and my daughter had the crispy wings. Both of them loved their plates. Now since this a Texas based establishment the only thing missing was some pecan pie but they sure did have some pecan cobbler yay!!! Loved the food and the place. Will def be back again!
