My boyfriend and I tried Gemma Saturday night for the first time, celebrating his birthday. We needed a place that served dinner late and wasn't going to close at 11pm, as so many places do. We also wanted someplace romantic, and a bit on the fancy side, with a nice variety of menu options. Gemma met and exceeded our expectations.
We arrived earlier than our reservation time, but we were easily accommodated. We were seated at a lovely little table, and despite the restaurant being very busy, the pace in which we were served was timed perfectly. Our waiter was very attentive and courteous, making us feel very welcomed.
We ordered the Turkey Meatballs for an appetizer, and I could have eaten a dozen; they were amazing. For our entree', we split the Flat Iron Steak, which was honestly one of the best steaks I've had (that's really saying something). I was particularly impressed with our waiter not at all minding we were splitting an entree', and our dinner was plated beautifully and evenly. We wanted to save room for dessert, hence the split.
I asked our waiter to please put a simple candle with our dessert for my boyfriend's birthday, but specifically asked for no singing and to not make a thing of it, and he respected my wishes to a T. We had the Pistachio Semifreddo, which was to die for, and we ate every bite.
I highly recommend Gemma to anyone looking to try a new place with excellent food, and an intimate atmosphere. I look forward to dining there again. And I have to say, my favorite thing about Gemma are the little salt servers at every table.
It was our first time to visit Gemma's as we decided last minute to go there for my birthday dinner!
I love the decor and the feel of restaurant- the attention to detail is evident and noticeable!
The seat cushions were just added to the chairs and were so comfortable!
It has a cool northern cali feel.
The cute hostess delivered a birthday card to the table from the restaurant! Nice touch !
With water they brought fig & goat cheese scones to the table
Which were warm , moist and melted in your mouth with a touch of butter - yum
As an appetizer we ordered the fried olives and texas pecans - it's was delicious- great idea !
more than enough for 4 ppl to share !
I had the lamb pasta special and my partner had the chicken vegetable dish -both were nice size portion and taste Amazing!
We drank an superb sparkling rose - the manager was very knowledgeable and delightful helping us with our selection!
Dessert was a blue berry crisp with ice cream
They brought it out on a personalized decorated plate with a candle -
It was lovely and subtle just the perfect touch!
All of the staff worked together as a team and helped all the tables and guests through out our visit Always making sure waters were filled and plates were removed & bringing requested items & explaining the late night happy hour to us !
An after late night kitchen of this caliber that's open until 1am Most nights -
Unbelievable!
This is almost nonexistent in Dallas !
Thank you all for a lovely evening !
I am thaaaat person that comes in super late because I'm industry, but you just can't beat the food and service here! And this ceviche they've added recently AHHHH it's so good!! Who would have thought to put corn nuts in it?? Amazing! I've never had a dish where I didn't want to lick the plate afterwards.... Which I kinda do anyway by swirling up the remaining sauce with the addicting scones they serve.
The chef is a bad ass, and y'all are doing everything right!!!
The food was absolutely wonderful!

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. The food, service and ambience are impeccable but not at all stuffy. Loved it!
Unique and wide variety of menu choices. All four at our table would vote 5 stars as well. Though I don’t drink, those at my table would have rated the wine list the same. We’ll be back soon.
Superb! Lovely buzzy atmosphere, our waitress and the Hostess were attentive and communicative. The food was fantastic. We felt very special!
The pork chop was one of the most delicious things I've eaten, I even had to gnaw on the bone when I was finished!
Every element of a meal at Gemma is perfect. Food, wine, service, atmosphere. Allison and Stephen have created a brilliant oasis that manages to stand head and shoulders above the burgeoning Dallas restaurant scene.
Great location with an assortment of food and wine to choose from. I will be visiting this place once again in the very near future!!
The cocktails are unique and change with the seasons. And the food, delicious. Service is always impeccable and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Foodies’ delight!!
Celebrated my birthday here last night with my family. Our reserved table was ready when we walked in the door (even though we were 30 minutes early), service was excellent - fantastic food and wine recommendations. Food was incredible. It seemed like the entire staff knew it was my birthday, everyone was super thoughtful and kind. Will definitely be back, thanks Gemma! <3
We had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere was lively but not overly noisy, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was great. My husband enjoyed the baked oyster appetizer and we both loved our main course. I had the striped bass and he had the pork chop. Highly recommend!
One of my favorite places in Dallas! Great drinks, great food, great ambiance. Would recommend to anyone coming into town.

The food and service were simply amazing. Tried an assortment of fabulous appetizers, the Beef Bourguignon was to-die-for and the white chocolate coconut lime bomb finished everything off nicely. Well done!
Salad and entree was magnificent. Apple crisp was okay for desert. Service was also outstanding.
Wow, what an experience and look forward to a return visit. Came to celebrate a birthday and was presented with a card upon arrival. What a nice touch.
The food was amazing and very tasty. The service was spot on. Gemma has a great vibe and it was an excellent evening.
All I can say is WOW … what an experience!!!This was such a great dinning experience that I’d recommend it to anyone on any occasion! . They have, in my opinion, the best service in Texas + the food was phenomenal..
The Crudo was a 10/10 ! oysters were top notch and half off after 9pm 🤯. I got the spritz and that too was flawless ..
I will be back many many more times!
New Dallas favorite!
My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and wanted to get away from the over-priced, overly-pretentious, high-end spots downtown. Gemma did not disappoint.
The Burrata, spaghetti, scallops, duck fat tots, melon salad and desserts were incredible. The presentation was great, and everything came out perfectly timed.
Additionally, the service was flawless, despite a packed house and busy Saturday night. The wait staff took great care of us and made the evening special.
Gemma has easily become a new favorite of ours and we will certainly be frequenting this place.
Excellent service and food. Definitely one of the best in Dallas. Happy hour at the bar for half off oysters until 6. Highly recommend!
Fried Olives, Rabbit, Baby Octopus, and Wild Boar!
This place had one of the more unique dinning experiences I’ve had in my life. As you can see from my opening sentence, they offer a variety of interesting but delicious food. Unlike some restaurants that just try to offer rare selections, this place actually knows how to elevate the flavors which just next level.
Must haves are the fried olives, gemeli, and Texas heat cocktail (unreal).
BREAD SERVICE!!!!
I almost forgot, this place has arguably the best bread I have ever had before a meal. The kicker is… they only give you one. But if you layer in the butter good, that one piece of bread can be your holy grail.
To me, this is a perfect place for a celebratory dinner- birthday, anniversary, or holidays. We ordered several appetizers, the rabbit pasta, and the apple crisp. Everything was truly wonderful. The flavors complimented each other well, and everything came out in a timely manner. I am already excited thinking about the next time we can visit Gemma!
Amazing experience from the service to the food. Everything was top notch. We started with oysters, beef tartare, and the Caesar. We had the pasta alla norma and pappardelle as our main course, and finished off with the brownie for dessert. Bianca was our server and she was super sweet, attentive, and very personable. Can’t wait to go back, there’s so much on the menu that I would like to try.
A lovely little upscale neighborhood place. If I lived in Dallas I’d be a regular. Plenty of parking, but you do have to navigate through a construction site. Great atmosphere, skillful and warm service. A friend and I split half a dozen oysters (east coast, $4 each), which I followed with the hamachi crudo (excellent) and an order of moules frites. The portion of delicious mussels was ridiculously large; two people could easily share it. (I sent some home with my friend.) The accompanying fries were perfectly cooked but much too salty - the reason I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5. My friend had the spicy salmon tartare, which came with butter lettuce leaves for wrapping, followed by the trout almandine (she loved both dishes). There’s seating at the bar for walk ins and the overall vibe is welcoming and casual. Fun for just a nice dinner with a friend, but could also be a great date night spot.
Details matter. The renovation is lovely. The food is delicious. The service never disappoints (Ashley is the BEST!). We come here often. At least twice a months and we always sit at the bar. Management, if you are readying this, I really just need a bag hook. Please? Restaurants at this level plan for important detail like this = hospitality :)
Right to the top of my Dallas list. We cane here for our 7 year anniversary and absolutely loved it.
The restaurant is nice and cozy, well decorated and casually elegant. Very nice place overall.
Service was outstanding, our waitress was kind and fun, they offered a free sparkling wine glass to celebrate our anniversary and had a note on the table waiting for us.
Food was delicious, flavors were really good and balanced. Pork and beef were both juicy, appetizers were also really good. They also have a nice bar.
Overall a really good place to go, can’t wait to come back.
