Love this place. The decor was on point. 1 small complain though, the entrance has a very strong seafood fishy smell. My co-workers were not a big fan of the smell.
However, the smell does not linger throughout the restaurant. We sat by the window which had a great view of uptown Dallas.
We did the Dallas restaurant week menu and it was so great. I had clams chowder and Texas Redfish. My coworker had salad shrimp and grits and steak fries.
Everything was great the mgrs and the staffs check on us throughout our dinning time. They switched out the silverware after each course and asked you what color of napkin you want before you sit down.
Hands down one of the best seafood meals I have ever had, matched with the highest level of service.
To start, we got 8 oysters, 2 scallops, and some king crab bites to share, and all of the items tasted extremely fresh and full of flavour.
For my main, I got the black cod with soba noodles. The black cod was again delicious, and the noodles balanced out the saltier taste of the fish well. I’d say the portion size could have been improved upon, but the taste more than made up for this. Would highly recommend the Water Grill as the spot for a special night out!
Watergrill is special to us as we spent our 1st wedding anniversary here (in Los Angeles branch). I remember the chef spoiled us w extra food, we had a menu printed out wishing us a happy anniversary and we even got a slice of cake with candle courtesy of the staff. We loved going to the Los Angeles location. Fast forward 10 years and we decided to come back to Water Grill to celebrate our 10 year at the Dallas location (because we live here now).
We made RSVP online and came on a Saturday. We ordered the following:
Apps:
-Oyster sampler (pictures shows what we circled and loved). Loved the variety and was very good. Cute little sauces on side but I still liked my lemon and Tabasco sauce, lol
-crab cake. Was good but not stellar. Too much
bread for my taste.
-tuna tartarre - mixed with some ponzu sauce and chips on side...Very delicious 😋
Mains:
-Chillian seabass: Excellent. Fresh, light, buttery the moment it hits your mouth! The sauce cooked with it was smooth and buttery! It was heaven on a plate!
-Blacken Cod : also very good! Came with noodles and a light soy sauce drizzled in. Very good!
Sides;
-Brussel sprouts cooked in huge chunks of bacon. Did I say BACON? It was delicious 😋
-Polenta; topped with mushrooms and warm and gooey
There was complimentary bread but the butter was COLD! Bread was very good.
We skipped dessert bc selection was not that impressive.
Food was fresh and service very prompt. Loved the complimentary sparkling water (they serve it room temperature and I asked for ice and lemon with it....that’s the way I like it).
Although they didn’t go out of their way to celebrate our special occasion with us (like the one in Los Angeles did), we are still very fond of the Water Grill. I will say the vibe felt lacking there compared to when you dine at Nobu or Oceanaire bc the staff didn’t seem to even care to go extra mile or wish us a happy anniversary. It’s the small gestures to me that makes the experience. But I will give them a pass as it could’ve just been our bad luck 😅
