For a little while this place was closed. And for good reason. It was horrible. The food was below subpar and the wait staff was just horrible. They were rude, didn’t refill your drinks or salsa when empty, treated you like you were putting them out for being there. But they have recently reopened with new owners. My wife and I were a little reluctant to give it a try considering how many bad experiences we had there previously. But we went ahead and did today. I’ll start with the food and the service. As with most Mexican restaurants, they start you off with chips and salsa. Before the chips were usually cold and stale and the salsa has so much black pepper added to it, it was inedible. But this time the chips came out warm and the salsa was very good with the right amount of heat. My wife ordered the “J Pepe’s Salad’ with fajita chicken and I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas. The salad was so big she could only eat half of it. And it had homemade ranch. Not that bottled stuff. You know what I’m talking about. I did try a bite of it and it was mighty tasty. My enchiladas came with the usual rice and beans on the side. I am very picky when it comes to chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. I look at the chicken inside the enchilada first to make sure it’s real chicken and not that canned stuff. Check, it’s real chicken. I then taste the sauce, check it was awesome. I then taste the rice, meh it was ok. Then the refried beans, bland as can be. But both were better when I added some salsa to them. I will give it a four for the awesome tasting food. The beans and rice could use some work. But considering the quality of their food and service of where they were, this is miles ahead of that. I would definitely return.
Had lunch about 2PM. The restaurant was fairly empty, but the service was good. The food was good as well! I had 2 chicken flautas and a beef fajita taco. The flautas were terrific, nice and crispy. The fajita beef was delicious. If I'm ever back at the Sheraton nearby, I'll probably try a full order of fajitas. The corn chips & salsa were also very good.
SOOOO HAPPY THAT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, OMAR, AND HIS GROUP ARE BACK AS OF LAST WEEK! HAVE BEEN BACK TWO DAYS IN A ROW! ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RAPHAEL AND CRISPY TACOS! THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY FRESH AND SEASONED GREAT!
