I almost cried when the food came out. This is the only restaurant I've been to where it feels like a genuine home cooked meal. They are truly a mom and pop shop. I felt nostalgia, warmth, care, and love through the food and I didn't even grow up eating this cuisine.
If you've seen Miyazaki's 'whisper of the heart', eating here feels like the scenes when she sings 'country road'. I would describe it as country Japanese food, but I know very little about the topic. It's simple, elegant, and beautiful. Very casual atmosphere, not a lot of seating, you won't regret eating here.
Their tofu katsu allowed me to live my katsu dreams while staying pescatarian - and it was fire, blew me out of orbit. I may write them a love/thank you note later.
The menu is long, but I'd recommend reading through it and not deferring to the ramen menu immediately. See if there's anything new you may discover you like.
Incredibly cozy place. The tofu katsudon was the most comforting meal I've had in years. Like another reviewer said, it felt so nostalgic even though I didn't grow up eating it. Cannot wait to come back!
Kiki's Japanese casual dining is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Denver. Very cute local mom and pop Japanese restaurant. My favorite dish is Tuna bowl with creamy sauce (and extra avocado). kimchi sukiyaki, kimchi yakisoba, spicy green mussels, Japanese fried chicken, assorted pickles, and steak. They also have some Japanese Korean fusion dishes too.
