We were traveling through Hartford and found a friend we'd met in another country(!!) and ended up here, in this off the main drag, divey looking restaurant.
Pizza in so many combinations, seafood, burgers, homemade pasta! Hooray!! A little of everything on the menu.
I ordered the Pasta Carbonara, my partner decided on the Shrimp and Pasta special and our friend had the American Cheeseburger with homemade chips. The portions are decent, we made it back to the hotel with a massive amount of leftovers.
The service was good, friendly waitress. Intimate patio with a gas heater for those chilly nights is a nice perk.
If we lived around this area of the world, we would definitely revisit.
Business appeared closed down! I drove an hour or so off my planned route because I had eaten there a number of years back and the food was great and that is why I was returning. There should be something on their website to say that they are closed, etc. Golden Irene's I did not see that you were temporarily closed, if I had I certainly wouldn't have driven that far out of my way! I changed my review to 5 stars relating back to visit a number of years ago because when I was there the food and service were outstanding and I was expressed enough to return last week in my travels from Virginia to Maine! I can assure you when I travel here again I most certainly will stop in again!

I'll be honest and say that when my boyfriend and I decided to go here for dinner I was a little skeptical. I hadn't heard of it before and it seemed to be located a bit off the beaten path. I looked at the menu online however and really liked the options, so we gave it go.
There was plenty of parking and a sign near the road so people don't miss it and drive by. The inside was dark and cozy feeling, I really liked the atmosphere. We were immediately greeted and then sat at a table in the corner. Our waitress, April, was one of the nicest people and seemed so happy to be at work! She just made me smile. She was attentive and quick to come to our table to check on us. I'm not sure if he was the manager or the owner, but he also stopped in a few times to check on us.
The food was amazing. April informed us that they make everything from scratch and I felt it really showed. The grape leaves were amazing and the land and sea entree was delicious. On top of that it was so well priced! I'd highly recommend a stop in to this place to give it a try.
