Very tempted to go 5 stars, but the R7 - Banh Xeo (pronounced "bang sow") let me down a little (it was the main reason I wanted to dine here). The issue? Banh xeo is traditionally served with lettuce leaves. The lettuce is used as an outer DIY "wrapper" for pieces of the crepe. The banh xeo was served with cut lettuce, and pickled carrots, so you could build a "perfect bite", but it was not fit for wrapping. We pointed this out, and were told non-Vietnamese didn't use the lettuce and it kept coming back on the plate. Regardless, the perfect bite was very tasty!
Thuy went with the N1 - Hu Tieu (egg noodles in broth). Broth was good flavor and it satisfied Thuy's "soup fix", but it was not as satisfying as a bowl of pho.
Oh, there is a happy hour from 5-7 pm Monday - Friday. This means 25% off drinks and appetizers. This prompted me to order a glass of red wine (Puerto Viejo Merlot - HH price $5.25) and Thuy decided to try A7 - Muc Nuong - Grilled squid with black pepper and lime dipping sauce (HH price also $5.25). I would return for this dish alone! The squid was super tender and flavorful. Yum!
We did finish with the macaroons (4 for $7). On our night it was green apple and a bit of marscapone and peanuts. Yummy, but tiny.
