Was at this delightful place 3 years ago when we visited and even though it has changed owners, we were again delighted with the food and eating experience. The portions are generous and authentic to Parisian authentic choices and food quality. It was wonderful stopping and having lunch and seeing the selection and variety. The french onion soup is still one of the best I have had, but I loved the pate lunch special and cheeses. Oh yes, the bread is fantastic as well. They were busy, but the service was attentive and food came out fresh and hot. Will gladly return again.
If you're looking for a truly wonderful culinary experience in the most surprising of places, this is definitely the place for you. We made our reservation (which I highly recommend doing), arrived, and ordered a bottle of champagne. Our service was exemplary throughout. We ordered a cheese plate, which was the best mix of cheeses we've ever had, including a goat cheese which was mixed personally with its seasonings by the chef which my husband and I had to fight over. Our next course was the French Onion soup. We make our own French Onion Soup often and were pretty proud of it until we tried this masterpiece. The broth could only have been made in house with the utmost of care as it was rich and unctuous in the best way.
For our entrees, I ordered the scallops and my husband went for the sole meuniére. His fish was served on a bed of lentils which were well seasoned. The fish included a layer of coarse salt on the outside which made for a beautiful texture. It was paired with a bright salad of fresh greens and fruit. Together it was a perfect balance.
The scallops were served with mushrooms in the best cream sauce I've ever had. The scallops and the mushrooms were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. This dish was paired with mashed potatoes on the side which were also perfectly seasoned and when paired with the cream sauce the best mashed potatoes I've ever had (and folks, it takes a lot to make mashed potatoes remarkable).
Finally, we just had to go for dessert. I chose the chocolate mousse. With my first bite, I was surprised to find it was a dark chocolate which was decadent and rich without being too sweet.
My husband chose the raspberry tart. The crust was perfectly done. The custard inside was creamy and rich with a lovely flavor that paired perfectly with the fresh raspberries and topped with a house made whipped cream and and light dusting of authentic cinnamon.
All in all, this place is delicious, well priced, and and a wonderful little tastebud journey into France.
What a surprise! Food was wonderful, ambiance felt like a French cafe for sure and the server was hustling to take care of a packed house on her own. Chef came out several times to check on his patrons. Lovely place. We will be back!
