We ordered takeout. 1 ahi/avocado bowl, 1 specialty roll (rainbow), 1 hosomaki (hamachi) and grabbed a seaweed salad side from the cold fridge. The prices here are very reasonable, a great value. The smell of the sushi when I opened the bag was inviting and authentic (toasted nori and sushi rice) The bowl was a 4, specialty roll a 3.5 because the short odd-cut sashimi pieces draping the California roll, hosomaki was a 5, seaweed salad a 3.
I recently dined at Hawaii Sushi, a restaurant specializing in sushi. The first thing that I noticed about the place was its nice atmosphere which was very welcoming and cozy. However, the overall experience was quite average and didn't live up to my expectations.
The first let down was the small portion sizes that were offered. They were not worth the price charged and left me wanting more. Although the food was decent, it wasn't exceptional and could have been better. Nevertheless, it was a better option compared to gas station sushi or convenience store sushi.
I opted for a takeout which was a smooth process and the staff was friendly enough to assist me with my order. The wait time was also reasonable considering I didn't place an online order beforehand. However, I wouldn't say that Hawaii Sushi was the best value for money.
In conclusion, Hawaii Sushi may not be the ideal place to enjoy sushi if you're looking for larger portions or higher quality sushi for the price. Although the atmosphere was pleasant, it was not enough to completely redeem my experience.
Local gem close to Waikiki! We loved the avocado bowls - a good portion for lunch after morning dives. The yellowtail poke tastes very good too.
This place is really great. The owner is very kind and friendly and the fish is priced very reasonably for how delicious it is!
Really good sushi at a great price. I rather like that it's not dine in, we took the rolls out to a bench by the beach, people watched and watched the moon rise over the ocean. Also, the tuna jerky is fantastic. I wish I had bought the big bag instead of the small one! I savored every bit of it.
Such delicious sushi at an amazing price. So fresh and so quick. Kept coming back again and again! Everyone is so friendly too! Highly recommend!!
After a long day at the beach this is a lite and refreshing place to go to. It’s. Little joint walking distance from the beach. Although we did not walk. My boyfriend and I drove. It was a quite packed area. We had to park a little bit away from the restaurant. It was no problem tho.
They had a nice menu full of sushi and some great specials. I love salmon so I got the salmon special. It was so delicious. It came with a miso soup. The miso soup you know it was made from scratch. Not the miso packet some use. There sushi was fresh. Everything was good. I really enjoyed their food. For all our food it was about $30.
Really top quality fish. I'm not easily impressed when it comes to sushi, have had the best in Japan and other travels. This hole in the wall has very good quality sushi fish.
Exactly what you would expect of a grab & go sushi place. Good quality sushi, well packaged, clean place, convenient seating outside. I'd definitely return.

What a difference a quick 1 mile away from the "Waikiki strip" @Hawaii Sushi was great! No crowds, superb service, quality food...& order was ready to go in less than 15 minutes! *bonus: fantastic ahi jerky samples!
Had Avocado Ahi Poke and Chirashi Bowl after hiking at Diamond Head. The ingredients are fresh and food are well prepared and tasty. Highly recommend it!
Hole in the wall. Kind staff and fast service. The food is just okay.
Great place to grab lunch, even on the go! Each day of the week has a special menu item which changes on a monthly basis. These special items are at a great price and consist of varying poke or sashimi bowl items with rice.
Went here for the first time based on the recommendation of a friend that lives nearby. I picked up a poke bowl special in the cooler for $6 and had them add avocado for a little extra. Delicious *and* a great value. I hope to come back before I have to go back home from my vacation.
Excellent sushi and poke spot, very fresh and quick. Small little shop so you probably don't want to go with more than 4-5 people. Staff is friendly. You will probably have some difficulty parking as there are quite a few stores for the 15 or so parking spots, so you may want to walk or park down the street.
We tried a few other places but this one had the best variety for the price. We got 3 rolls for around $26. The Rainbow roll is the best! The seating area is small so takeout is a good option on a busy day. The staff is friendly enough and they are timely in preparing the food.
Had a very solid salmon sashimi donburi. The price was very reasonable for what I got. I also particularly liked the use of kagura rice. The best part was that it wasn't overly sweetened with rice vinegar, since I prefer my sushi rice to be less on the sweet side. I will definitely be coming back.
Went here literally every day we were in Waikiki and have no regrets. Great fresh Sushi, lovely staff and the Spicy Ahi Bowl justified my entire plane ticket. Highly recommend.
