I spent the afternoon walking around Chinatown and knew I wanted to try a dim sum spot. I had just eaten at Marugame (because I wanted to try them out too) but made sure I left room in the stomach for more food.
I read some reviews that said the service wasn't good. I thought the ladies that worked there were the sweetest and most attentive I've seen in a while. And the food was great too! I'm from Vegas so the only thing I can use as reference are the many dim sum restaurants in our Chinatown; Mei's can easily go toe-to-toe with any of them.
I did just eat at Marugame so couldn't try as many things as I wanted but I did an apples to apples comparison by ordering many of the same items I typically eat at any dim sum: the porridge with pork and century egg, the shrimp dumplings (har gow), tripe, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and pork buns. All were outstanding.
I don't recall seeing any prices on the dim sum menu but everything above (2 orders of the shrimp dumplings) came to a little over $40 (no drinks - only the tea and water) so the price is super reasonable too. I'll definitely be stopping by again!
Fast and fresh food. The garlic chicken wings were exceptionally good.
We came early in the morning to ensure we got the most fresh baked goods as well
Look Fun with shrimp had nice big pieces of deliciousness. We also got the sweet coconut sesame ball which was hot and fresh!
Everything was super good and the place opened extra early! Sunday was our best early morning visit so far.
So good that the only photo I have is our half way eaten through char siu chow mein noodles!! My fiancé said this is the best dim sum he’s ever had (and we’ve had a lot of dim sum). We went at an odd time (3:30 pm) and there were only three other tables so we didn’t have to wait very long. We got the coconut sesame balls and we ended up getting another order of them to take with us :) Will definitely be back when we’re in Oahu again
