Been to Agu a couple of times. First time I ordered their regular since I wanted to try it first. This is the pic I’m providing. We had gyoza which was cooked very well. I don’t remember the wait time... I guess we were just enjoying each other’s company and not worrying about the time. I guess people associate ramen with fast and convenient..?
Anyway, second time I went I ordered their vegetarian dish, I think it was the Hakone or Hakata one. I can’t recall. But I remember not liking the char siu substitute. It was gross: the texture and the taste. I would’ve been good with just tofu. If you’re vegetarian I highly recommend asking them to not put that in your dish and get the egg instead!
I think they do their specialty well, but the miso based Hakone/Hakata ramen I got was alright. You could argue it’s because there’s not meat flavor, but that’s what kombu and katsuoboshi basically msg is for.
Definitely go with their specialty first before trying other items on the menu!
2/19/19, server was keen tonight. Always made sure we had water. One thing about the ramen is the higher spice level you go up the less flavorful it gets.
Loved all the dishes we ordered. Small plates of deep fried rice balls & gyoza. Ramen with pork belly. Only bummer was they were out of chicken ☹️. Our waitress was top notch.
