My friends recommended me this place. This isn't in the Waikiki beach area so you'll definitely need a car. Ono Kimchi is located in a small strip. Parking is very limited, but there is also street parking around the corner.
As I'm looking at the menu there are tons of choices. The owner is a Korean lady and she is a sweetheart! She sold us on her Hawaiian Poke Special. There's are fresh and made to owner so expect about 10-15 minutes. She prepares everything in front of you, and as I watched I was getting more hungry haha. She is super friendly and asked us a lot about where we are from and what we do. As she finishes and it hands it to us she has a huge smile on her face and tells us to please come again. We thank her and take our food to eat outside.
Ooh my god! This is amazing! Plenty of tuna poke in here! Its loaded with flavors and plenty of vegetables to add flavor and texture. We asked for spicy and it has a good kick. I enjoy spicy food and this was a good spice that kept its flavor!
We came back inside to thank her and it was the best poke I've had. I'm not a poke expert, but this place is a gem! We are definitely coming back before we leave Oahu!
This place doesn’t pop out when you search for poke but it is right next to the place that does... But trust me, Ono Kimchee is when you want to go for poke... The lady that runs the shop (extremely gentle soul) prepares it fresh and to order and the taste is out of this world!!! We are definitely coming back for more. We also tried her kimchee (extremely good) and the perfect pickled ginger (amazing)... Must visit if you are looking for top quality authentic taste of Hawaii
Clean, healthy, homemade Kim Chi, made with Local vegetables, No msg, or other added flavorings very pure. I Love this place! Seasonal choices change, when there is cucumber avail. she makes it with chives, it is delicious! Sometimes she has purslane kimchi, and yesterday I she had mustard cabbage, which was amazing. I always feel so light and well when I eat her kimchi. 😋 she has other special things too, like curative honey, and herbs. Or maybe fresh avocado!
Must try.
