I go to the Homestead often for both business and pleasure and I highly recommend it. But go to decompress, relax, hike, zip line, golf, and eat and drink well. It’s an old school resort and it feels and acts like it. If you’re looking to party and hang from the rafters singing karaoke until 3am, this might not be the weekend getaway for you. The pool, spa, and restaurants (there’s a nice mix of concepts and pricepoints) are all spot on. There’s a “Kid’s Camp” day and evening care center for small kids which is wonderful for families that come and might need a little help with the children while Mom and Dad are at the spa or on the links.
Sure, there’s a spot here and there which could use a touch up of paint. The place is 250 years old for crying out loud!!! But I have never found it to be in extreme disarray as other reviewers have suggested.
When it’s busy, reservations for dinner can fill up fast so review your options and call ahead accordingly. Same thing with the spa. These are not issues with the Homestead, btw, these are common sense best practices for resort travel.
Love this place. Can’t wait to go back.
I love the architecture and the history of this magnificent hotel! The food was superb! The service was good, the room was very comfortable, truly this place is a gem hidden in the Virginia mountains!
This place is amazing from the moment we pulled up and the bell staff unloaded our luggage and took our car to park it to the room and food everything is first class!
