I found Dish Society on yelp and was attracted to the farm to table approach and menu. The reviews were very good and they offered an above average selection of gluten free options.
My wife and I live in New England and were visiting our son who recent relocated to the area, so we decided to give it a try for Sunday brunch. The establishment was very clean and sported a smart decor. Parking was readily available and free. They were busy, but not in a overwhelming sense. The place is set up as a order and pay restaurant, they will then seat you and bring your order to the table when ready. Our wait was only about 10-15 minutes. Our drink order of prickly pear mimosas was delivered promptly to the table. My wife ordered the brisket and eggs which included a house made buttermilk biscuit, my son had chicken and biscuits and I, the shrimp and grits with a single side pancake. The selections did not disappoint, they were outstanding and the presentations were simple and well done. The staff was amazing, providing information for first time visitors on how things worked and were extraordinarily patient and attentive to any question you may have. A special shout out must go to Kevin, who I believe was the floor manager, he was very friendly and engaging and not only made you feel at home, but sealed the deal for us that we will certainly return again on our next visit to the Houston area. I also suspect, they will be seeing more of our son.
I have a gluten intolerance and visited here for brunch. Half of their menu is gluten free!! I was overwhelmed with choices which never happens for me! My food was amazing and I was able to pick off my family member’s plates too since they make naturally gluten free meals that everyone loves! Pork belly hash had me drooling and the shrimp and grits were too good to keep my fork out of.
We recently went to Dish Society for breakfast. It was our first time there and, sadly, we got there too late for breakfast. However, we found a few dishes and made our selections.
The Brussels Sprouts tacos were really good. The mac and cheese was mediocre.
I don't recall the 3rd entrée.
The fresh juices were delicious, as was the fruit and herb infused complimentary Spa Water.
HOWEVER, where the food lacked the customer service more than made up for it. There was an issue with one of my food items. I returned it and received a newly prepared item. Shortly thereafter, a manager (Johnathan) came out to apologize and to see what he could do to make the experience better. He comp'd our beverages.
We continued to eat when another issue arose - this time with the condiment dispenser (black pepper to be exact). A table busing staff member noticed my distress and offered to replace my food item that was now ruined because of the condiment mishap. Instead, considering that I had just returned an item, I asked for the manager. I showed him the problem with my food item and the problem with the condiments. He immediately replaced that food item as well.
He behaved as if my complaints were valid, my positive experience was important, and my business desired. At no point did I have to "fight" or "argue" my point; and, I attribute that to Jonathan's interest in having and retaining me as a customer.
