The ambiance of this place was so cool and hip, while still being inviting. The staff was warm and wonderful. And the food was UNREAL. So delicious. It was adventurous, but it was still extremely accessible. The dishes were very creative, and a total joy to eat. We had appetizers, entrées, and dessert, and there was not a single bite left on the table. There is not a weak link on the menu. Great vegetarian options (which at some restaurants is a second thought), and all the meat eaters in our party raved about their meals. It sounds like a joke, but when a vegetarian, a pescatarian, a meat eater, and a four year old leave full and happy.... that is some culinary magic!!

We went to AB to celebrate my MIL's 70th bday, with a toddler and a newborn in tow. They gave us a nice and large table at the back that had some extra space next to it perfect for a stroller, and private enough for me to bf at without having to worry about disturbing diners around us. The staff was very polite and helpful, we went for the Restaurant Week menu with all of the dishes being simply exquisite. Staff was very patient with us having to manage a tired toddler at the table and was super understanding, as well as the manager, helping pack up our deserts for us super fast when we had to rush back home due to newborn becoming a bit unruly. All in all we were impressed with the food and service. We liked Shade, but we live Alice Blue with its new design, ambience and menu.
Thank you
This is the finest restaurant we have found in a long time. Service, decor, bar all are great . The food was the most impressive. The presentation was exceptional. We had the pork collar and the roast chicken, both were wow.
You owe it to yourself to try this place and see what I mean.
Great place! Enjoyed a night on the patio with our one year old kiddos. Quiet, with good food and company. Will be back!
Amazing food! Atmosphere was swanky and fun. The service was on point as well. We will be going back!

Such a swanky spot in Heights. Chic decor, incredible food & a great wait staff. Everything we ordered was delicious! Can’t wait to go back! 🍽
I'm always skeptical/nervous when a favorite restaurant goes through a "rebranding" but if our first visit is any indication, Claire Smith has pulled it off with what used to be "Shade". Decor is really nice, service was fine (although still maybe trying to find its vibe), but the new kitchen is already hitting on all cylinders! Every appetizer sounds awesome and all the ones we ordered came through...sweet corn and pancetta tagliatelle was awesome, and the roast chicken was decadent (which is not something you usually say about chicken)! Stays on the list...
Delicious breakfast this morning. Will definitely be a regular! And a special thanks to our waitress Kathleen who was great!
Although I had to google most of the menu, both the cocktails and food were delicious! The fondue is a must order 🦄
we loved everything we ordered. I recommend the house bread and butter to start.
Great place, beautiful interiors, great Food !!
We have been for brunch twice and have been throughly impressed both time. Great place!
Service was great! Food was delicious, I wish we brought more people so we could try everything. Awesome wine/beverage list as well. We will definitely be back.
I call it a hidden gem because this was my first time here and the front door was in a little alley area and I almost walked by. This place gets busy quick on a Sunday. I went just before noon for brunch. There is a nice bar to wait or eat at or be seated in the main room. Started off with a mimosa which was good, nothing to really make it standout, but not bad. Than the deviled eggs. Now I love deviled eggs, I order them everywhere I go if they’re on the menu. These were cooked perfectly, a nice creamy consistency with the yolk. Also the herbs and espelette pepper made it the perfect one or two bites. Bonus with me is a chef that will use a piping bag for the filling.
There were a lot of choices on the menu, but when the Challah French toast plate was delivered to the next table, my mind was made up. Super soft and perfectly soaked bread, not overpowered with cinnamon, bacon was crispy and eggs done properly. You can see why this is a popular dish in the menu. If you get a chance to go by, I highly suggest it. Also, Alice Blue is located in the Historic Heights area of Houston and the area is full of little shops you can walk into and explore after you eat.
I was between showing appointments during lunch time in the Heights and needed a place to have a light bite and work in my laptop. I had the fish tacos with corn salad and a cup of dark English tea. I didn’t care much for the radish on the tacos but everything else was fabulous! I sat in the back and I was able to work and enjoy a nice cup of tea after lunch. The staff is very friendly and service was great!
I came to Houston for a graduation and stopped in, and I must say I was pleased. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. I will recommend Alice Blue to my friends who live in Houston. I had the avocado toast with salmon, it was very good and so was the strawberry margarita.
This was a nice little gem to stumble upon. Came for brunch over the weekend and the food was terrific!! The protein bowl was very yummy as well as the Mac and cheese!!
This place had been on my list to try and I’m so glad it hit the spot! I took my mom, grandmother, and my wife here for brunch. We hadn’t seen each other in months so what started out as breakfast turned into brunch and then lunch. We ordered several round of mimosas and coffee while we caught up and we also ordered breakfast. I loved their chai. It was hot, spicy, sweet, and huge! You can’t go wrong with their chai. I also loved my crispy pork belly and grits with a hot honey glaze. The flavors of sweet, sour, spicy, salty along with the crispy texture of the pork belly and grits made this an incredibly flavorful bite. Even without tasting the rest of the menu I can say with certainty this is definitely a star dish. They had a range of offers for breakfast so no matter whether you were craving something sweet or savory they had something to satisfy you. There was a bar, booths, tables, and an alley with outdoor tables you could sit at along with clean bathrooms. The restaurant was ADA accessible and overall it was a chill vibe to do brunch and enjoy a weekend morning. We especially appreciated the server who doted on us, Jenn. She was very sweet and accommodating my grandmother. I’m going to add this to my list of fave weekend brunch spots!
A colleague and I met at this Upper Heights place in Houston for a business brunch. The place opens at 10:30 and we were the first customers through the door. I ordered the Fish Tacos al Pastor and my colleague ordered Smoked Salmon Tartare. The pair of tacos came with a cup of Mexican corn salad. The corn salad was very flavorful but the tacos, although not bad, were just acceptable. The smoked salmon (I tasted a little piece) was very good and it came with a salad and, what looked like, store bought potato chips.
The total came out to be around $45 plus tips.
Had a simple breakfast and the pastry board to split with my husband. Both were absolutely delicious! Wish I had photos to share but the food was too good to even remember to photograph! Knocked off a star because our waitress was quite inattentive, I’d still recommend this place if you’re looking for a solid breakfast/brunch.
This is such a cute place with a nice calm vibe. I went for brunch, and I was delighted by all the options. The mini pastries are so cute and tasty, and the iced chai is absolutely delicious. The staff are all super friendly and definitely made the visit a great one.
Great margaritas, yummy salads perfectly cooked fish and the sourdough continues to impress. Haven't been back in a while and everything was better than ever.
Staff is friendly and attentive, many have been there a long time Quiet cozy space with room to breathe. Thank you!!
Really really cute place! Went on Sunday around 11:30am with a friend and did not have to wait at all to get a table. Their fries/house potatoes are to DIE for 🤩 the crispy chicken sandwich was pretty decent. Definitely a great spot if you love an eggy brunch. They are really generous with their mimosas as well.
Sat at the bar for Sunday brunch and mimosas. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast and my husband had the eggs Benedict. Both dishes were very tasty and service at the bar was quick. Nice choice for brunch in The Heights!
I like it. Really cute spot in the Heights. Breakfast was good. In-house pastries were good. Service was good. I’ll go back.
- Went back for dinner, amazing pork belly, shrimp scampi, and gourmet cheese burger.
Visited this place for brunch. I started off with a bellini and deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were yummy. I had to stop myself from eating them all. Bellini was a bellini, good per usual.
Then I had the chicken tandoori. My first time ever having this dish so forgive me if you disagree. The Farro, cucumber and feta salad was good. I'd order this as a side somewhere else. It was a good first experience with it. Hummus is hummus, the pita was warm, soft, and chewy. The tzatziki and chicken were so good. Definitely something I would recommend to someone who is open to trying new things but usually sticks to the basics. I would order it again. I had a grapefruit mimosa with this. I really enjoyed the grapefruit option as orange juice gives me heartburn when mixed with 🍾.
My husband had the 2 egg plate and a carajillo drink. The carajillo is made with espresso so it tasted of espresso but the liquor 43 made it sweeter. If you like espresso and want an adult beverage, I would suggest this drink.
I would come back to try the other menus.
The shrimp scampi was one of the best pasta I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant and the servers were helpful! Would recommend!
Migas and pulled pork tostadas are amazing! Great coffee and patio as well!
Update: came back for dinner and everything was amazing! The flautas were some of the best we've had and the burger was on point. And of course their famous bacon Mac and cheese did not disappoint. Great service as well. We will be back for sure!
Pretty good place for brunch. They weren’t very busy on a Saturday morning. Parking is limited. I got the burger and it was good. My wife said the challa French toast was just okay. My daughter enjoyed the 2 eggs breakfast as well. We also indulged in some cocktails which were also delicious!
I always have a nice time when I am here for brunch. My server is usually Coretta, she is always professional and so knowledgeable (about so many things!)
I always get the pastries to take home. Hard to find a fantastic croissant in Houston that is close to perfect. I don't prefer the mini croissant (still good but a bit different); scones, muffins, and monkey bun are great in their miniature size.
*I think they only have butter croissants and monkey buns in their full size now.
The menu is a pretty basic brunch menu but it is always solid. My French toast was not overly sweet or wet/mushy, eggs are consistent any way they're made, bacon is always on point, and everything is made in house.
The quiche is my go to if I don't know what I want.
I came at 11 on a Saturday and found parking immediately across the street.. sometimes you have to drive around or street park, it's 19th Street (to be expected).
"Roasted Hen of the Woods Mushrooms" is the best dish I had during my one-month-visit to Houston. The flavors round out perfectly in this culinary masterpiece. Hats off!
Amazing in every way. The food and its presentation were excitingly unique and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and her timing was perfect. The Roasted Branzino, you have to try if you're there on a Friday. The hummus trio for starters and the Agnolotti were A+.
