Brisket taco was the best compared to the barbacoa and chimichurri . Btw they still have a burger available and pies from the legacy Sam's Burgers and Pies.
Pretty nut-friendly, not sure if anything is actually served with nuts but I've never had issues.
Review is for picked up order of five tacos (two corn, three flour, all the Topo Chico Battered Fish). I stopped in the day that they moved two doors down to where a burger shop used to be. Larger, more modern interior makes it feel less homey than the old counter that I could see the kitchen in.
The tacos are huge and fully loaded. I'd say the corn packs more flavor than the flour tortilla, but that's consistent with expectations. About three medium sized pieces of crispy topo chico battered catfish per taco with cole slaw. Each taco came with a container of pineapple habanero red sauce, which is quite hot but sweet and balances well with the slaw and sauce.
The only downside is that they're pricey. On the level of other fusion places like Velvet and Torchy's, but with a more local feel, slightly cheaper, and more substance in the ingredients. The price means I don't go too often, though.
Food 4.5/5
Value 4.0/5
Overall 5/5 for consistency over the years.
Tacos were expensive at first until I saw the size of them. I got the carne asada and buffalo chicken taco. Both were packed with flavor and the dipping sauces were Fuego. No frills great food spot.
