Our family picked up Bun Bue Hue here along with a Banh Mi. The restaurant was a little quiet at the time. The staff were friendly and helpful. They had our order just coming out the kitchen as we entered.
The Bun Bue Hue was delicious per my wife who is Vietnamese. She's very picky when it comes to that dish so when she is happy, you know it's good.
The Banh Mi was decent. The bread was good which matters to me.
Overall, we'll definitely come back.
LOVE AT FIRST SLURP .
It took me long enough to write this review after the 3rd time dining here. My wife told me about this place from her friends and it did not disappoint. First impression when walking in is a nice modern store with good decorations. The staff is very friendly and greeted us at the door.
Let's get to the food. The menu is straight forward simple. When you know a place is good at what they are doing there is only 1 item on the menu which is Bun Bo Hue. There is Banh Mi Bo Hue but i haven't try it yet. I prefer bun over Banh Mi :).
After we ordered, the staff brought out a nice presentation plate with side of vegetables and attractive bowl of bun bo. First thing first before add any lime or veggies, taste the broth. The broth is the heart and soul of any soup bowl dishes in Vietnamese cooking. I scoop up a spoon, put it in my mouth and BOY .. oooh BOYYYy. My eyes pop out my wife asked : " whut?!?! Whuuuatt??!? ... " I said ... MY TASTE BUD ON MY TOUNGE ARE DANCING FUUUUUU... SOOO GOOOOODDD. After this point , you know it's the real deal. The taste remind me of mom's cooking. There is a balance in tranquility of flavor, spices, broth.
Now to the MEATS: OMG such good smell. The meats are not slices like other places or what your family often cook. The steak are cube sized just like your Bo Luc Lac , which they seasoned very well. There is that butter smell of good beef that I can't described. The restaurant took a huge revolution of vietnamese food with just this type of beef cubes. Nobody ever though bo luc lac style beef gonna blend so well with Bun Bo Hue.
After this moment, I stopped talking, my head is down and focus on my bowl.... The staff keep checking on me to make sure everything is OK. I said excellent. They refill my water, clean up the table after you finish.... A+ American Service here that many places down in Chinatown overlooked.
I ordered some togo to share with my family and man. The packaging is good too. They didn't over look it at all. The bun comes with a nice large bowl that you can just pour the soup in and eat right away. I was expecting foam white box just like other places but this move on the big plastic bowl is awesome. You can enjoy it at lunch hour at work without worrying about having extra bowls.
In conclusion, I loved this place, they deserve the recognition of excellence in Vietnamese cooking and brought something new to the table that everyone will enjoy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Love the banh mi BBH, you can add noodles to get best of both worlds. The tea has great flavor and not watered down at all.
