Typical Colombian Platters. La Ruana Paisa is a pleasant restaurant that cooks food meant to be reminiscent of the home country. The menu is extensive.
Breakfast is proudly served all day. They have Pollo A La Brasa. The requisite Colombian bandeja platters appear on the menu, two hearty grilled meat versions which are aptly described as "everything but the kitchen sink", a chicken and a fish bandeja.
There is a set daily soup of the day lunch special which features a choice between two soups on a select day of the week. Be forewarned that the Wednesday sancocho de costilla offers beef short ribs, not pork ribs, and that they are not pressure cooked or stewed until tender. Saturday brings sancocho de cola (oxtails) which also require similar treatment. If chewing vigorously is not your thing, you have been informed.
La Ruana Paisa has a wine and beer license. They make sangria. Non-alcoholic beverages include Colombian sodas, aguapanela, lemonade, and coffee.
I suggest that your dessert be figs with cheese and a cup of coffee. Flan, tres leches cake, ice cream, and rice pudding may also be your selection.
Went with my father and It cheering me up to be in an environment that has good music taste with people feeling comfortable enough to dance and enjoying the delicious food. Along with the great service provided from the servers asking every once in awhile if we were doing well.
The atmosphere was eccentric, warm and authentic as soon as you step inside. The customer service was phenomenal and our server was checking on us consistently and the food was THE BOMB! I had the pollo a la plancha with the arroz y frijoles and it was fresh and flavorful. 🔥 I'll be coming back!
