Good Clean Eating! Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Highly Recommended!. I travel all over the state of Florida for work which affords me opportunity to sample cuisine from many restaurants across the state, everything from five star to hole-in-the-wall local eateries. Generally I try to avoid chain restaurants preferring independent restaurants... And I find it a touch more difficult to find unique, independent, fresh and delicious cuisine in JAX compared to, say, south Florida. Anyhow I have a fair sampling to compare and I would say Cafe Kabob is definitely top notch.

This is a very small place tucked into a strip mall behind McDonald's on the Philip's highway side of Baymeadows, with maybe about 5-6 tables. But it is clean, well lit and inviting (bathrooms are clean and nicely kept as well-- a key evaluation criteria IMO). The staff is very friendly and personable, with quick and attentive service. The folks here are true Persians home cooking food they know and love, and it shows.

We ordered the dinner for two (can't remember the name) which at $28 is a great deal and enough to feed two people. It came with two salads, delicious "green" stew consisting of beef, red bean and greens, two platters of genuine saffron basmati rice and four kabobs-- one chicken, two ground beef, and one top sirloin. The meat was fresh, cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The hostess informed us the meat is delivered fresh daily, never frozen, and I believe it. My wife had the tomato/cucumber salad which she said was just 'ok'. My salad of fresh organic greens with house dressing was fantastic. For appetizer we had the plain humus, which was fresh and tasty. I make a lot of humus that people rave about, this was better. The chef gave us a complimentary dish of the basil humus, which we found to be even better than the plain. I was afraid the fresh basil would overwhelm the humus but not so. They also offered a complimentary dish if the herb/cheese appetizer. The herb/cheese appetizer is a bit odd for the American pallet the consisting of fresh mint leaves, raw radish, raw onion, pita and feta cheese... But it works and was a nice change.

Desert was their version of fresh made Neaploitan which was very good (I bought one to take home for having with morning coffee) and not over sweet.

We both loved the food ... Freshly prepared, just delicious, and a good deal at about $42 before tip for two adults, and with enough leftover for lunch.

Overall, I give this restaurant high rating and would definitely recommend. Jacksonville needs more restaurants like this, and I hope enough people go there to keep the in business. I find it quite disheartening to see the local "feeding troughs" overflowing nearly daily while these folks were not filling 5 tables on Saturday. So just go!

Thanks for reading!

Small, hole-in-the wall place, unpretentious and casual. Mounted TV playing sports, the interior is brightly lit. The food is delicious and quite reasonably priced. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the scrumptious appetizer we had (it was sort of like chicken and potato salad and peas mixed together) but the chicken and kufteh kebab were perfect. I am not Persian but my wife and in-laws are and they gave it their seal of approval.

Brand new restaurant just opened in the strip mall behind mcdonalds on Baymeadows before you get to Phillips hwy from 95. They make Persian food most notably the kabob. I ordered the dinner combo Joojeh (chicken) and Koobideh (beef) Kabobs that came de-skewered with a side of Basmati rice and grilled Tomatoes. Absolutely delicious food! The owner is super pleasant and very gracious you came by. I didnt know it at the time but I just made it by 5 mins before they were going to close and they served me and I didn't feel rushed to finish which is always nice. Since everything is new this place was extremely clean and food came out quickly. Looking forward to going back.

For today’s review we visited Cafe Kabob located at 8600 Baymeadows road near where Baymeadows road meets Interstate 95. Cafe Kabob is a newer restaurant only open since the middle of March 2014. They offer Iranian/Persian and Middle Eastern cuisine as well as an item or two you wouldn’t expect (such as the Korean dish Kim Chi). The restaurant is very small and the owners are incredibly welcoming. At Cafe Kabob there are no frills. They serve no alcohol and they are clearly focused on putting out great food. Cafe Kabob – Olivier Salad On this visit we joined a group of friends for a dinner with a set menu. First up was the Olivier salad. It’s a cold salad of chicken, potatoes, and eggs with Persian pickles. It sounded a bit odd to me, but man was it delicious! Throughout our meal I kept going back to the Olivier salad. The owner/chef explained that years ago when he went off to university in England, the only thing he knew how to make was Olivier salad. It sure beats the ramen and easy mac I used to live on. Definitely give the Olivier Salad a try. Cafe Kabob – Shirazi Salad Following the Olivier was a plate of hummus, two ways, with pita and Kim chi. The two varieties of hummus were plain/traditional and the other was mint, basil, cilantro, with extra garlic and lemon. The traditional hummus was excellent, but the herbed hummus was out of this world. I briefly considered just grabbing a spoon to eat it, it was positively scrumptious. I love creative, passionate chefs. I’ve made my own hummus a time or two, but I’d never think to combine mint, basil, and cilantro. My tastebuds are glad someone else did. Along with the hummus two ways was house made kimchi. We were surprised to see kimchi on the menu and on our table, but it was a delicious, well made, and healthy complime

The food was spectacular and the service was just as delightful. If you're looking for some Mediterranean food in Jax and found yourself on the southside, give them a try. You won't regret it.

My husband and I had debated several times about going since its surrounded by two other yummy restaurants (Modu Ramen and Noom Thai Bistro). Luckily for us, it was a Monday and Noom Thai surprised us by being closed. Cafe Kabob has a simple, clean dining room. The menu has Arabic and Persian dishes. We ordered the Platter (feast) for 2 which included 4 kabobs: 1 steak, 1 chicken and 2 ground beef as well as plates of rice, salad, roasted tomatoes and stew that we subbed out for hummus instead. Every. Single. Bite. Was. Fantastic. And we loved it!! The meat was extremely tasty. Everything complimented. The chicken was perfect dipped in the hummus. The beef, rice, salad, hummus were perfect mixed up. The roasted tomatoes were amazing in and of themselves. Pita is provided so it worked well to scoop your food or dip it in the fresh hummus. We tried the butter provided with the rice and it also added something to it. On the tables are various seasonings and I was surprised to find they weren’t just one dimension of spicy hot pepper, ha. They weren’t really spicy in that way but instead extremely flavorful and different, they complimented the roasted tomatoes especially well. Everything was delicious and we highly recommend dinner or lunch here. One more thing, PLEASE take our server’s advice and try their dessert. That Knafeh is amazing!!!! And I was glad we paired it with the very reasonably priced yet super high quality Arabic coffee. Yes, the dessert was the crowning moment for us. It is a delicacy special enough for a wedding. Our server was very kind and when I told him how happy I was with the dessert and food and that I would be writing a review, he said the coffee was on them. It seems they want to get the word out! It’s been a while and I hadn’t posted but we’ve been back several times already!!! Try their breakfast dish and chopped veggie salad together… so amazing. Also, their yogurt cucumber concoction is amazing though I can’t remember if it is listed as a soup or salad. Enjoy!!!

No longer called Cafe Kabob. New name and menu and changed some. Chicken soup was delicious. Taboulleh fresh. Hummus was ordinary. Full menu was not available yet. Will go back a little later on.

Food is really tasty and the place run by a nice family: father, mother and their daughter .. I like the meal that we ordered was good, take the regular kabob better than lamb one.but mind the price coz I ended up paying $42 which was more than I expected. Anyhow the food was delicious.

This is a wonderful place to get authentic Middle Eastern food. The restaurant is clean and spacious. I cannot express enough how personable the staff are. It feels like I’m dining with family! Today I selected the grape leaves and falafels. Both were excellent! I highly recommend CAFE’ KABOB the next time you want to experience middle eastern food at its best!

This is the best kabob and Persian food in Jacksonville! I've been to other kabob places but the freshness, service and flavor of this place beats everyone else! We had Persian tea, lamb kabob and chicken kabob and they were all very flavorful. The rice that came with it was so fresh. The server was so sweet and she also gave us some Persian cookies on the house! Definitely definitely coming back!

Cafe Kabob is a delightful friendly neighborhood location with ample parking and seating. They also have a vibrant call-in/pick up trade. Food was of excellent quality, and served hot. Good variety of menu selections, and the best baba ghanoush I have ever had. I have had eaten a a lot of it. Even better than my own. The pita bread was very fresh as well. We chatted with a beautiful local family who gave us some pointers on attractions we should be sure to enjoy while in the area. We do not give out FIVE STARS very often. We are CIA (Culinary Institute of America ) foodies and love good food. We will make an effort to visit again, even if we have to travel across the state to do it

I saw the sign for the place and decided to give it a try. Very glad I did. falafel, Kibbeh and humus was delicious. The server Ilir was very pleasant and helpful. I was impressed with this family owned Syrian family. The owner Aiman came out of the kitchen to meet me, we had a good funny conversation. Overall the place is clean, the food was fresh and perfectly done. Price is reasonable. Go give them a try and tell them khalil sent you..
