Great location - creative cocktails and open atmosphere makes an outdoor summer place you come back to again and again. The owners are Jersey City locals (they own the Cliff in JC heights). And Gary's grandfather was a firefighter in town - what a beautiful legacy - Engine 3!!!

THIS LOCATION IS OPEN. The old owner seems to be responding to everyone saying it's no longer in business. I just went on may 7 2022. It may be under new ownership but it is still called the golden cicada and there is no other option on Google maps. I don't understand why the previous owner would be doing that, but just want everyone to be aware this place is very much open.

This bar is a peculiarity that is just plain awesome. While everything in Jersey City is sleek and shiny - the Golden Cicada is a run-down dive bar run by a mom and pop. For $50 i had 4 drinks for myself and bought 2 rounds for my friends. They have karaoke playing and everyone in the whole bar is singing along. I had a lot of fun at this place and i wanna come back soon
