Pretty enjoyable experience overall.
Food was ordered quickly and served fast, even with a line. I like being able to see a well-run kitchen in action, always cool.
Food was good. My burnt ends sandwich was tasty and filling, Mac and cheese was okay but not my favorite. Still solid though.
Staff was helpful, especially to a guy like me who doesn’t live in KC, hadn’t been in before, and was not entirely sure of the process. Checked on me to make sure I was doing okay.

I was pleased with everything from the moment I walked in. The employees were extremely courteous and friendly. The food smelled so delicious I could taste it from the parking lot! They had a lunch sandwich special called the Nooner. It came with fries and your choice of sauce. A great sandwich and a great price. I would highly recommend you try this Kansas City staple.
This place is a true experience, from the time you walk in the door, to when the wonderful crew patiently answers all your questions about the food. Now we got two mixed plates, food is amazing! You get ribs, beef, and ham or turkey and let me tell you every meat on that plate is cooked to perfection, moist and flavorful. Now for the star of Gates BBQ, Ms. Sheila Lenore! This lady is loving and welcoming, she makes you feel like you are meant to be there🩷 We will definitely be back all the way from New Mexico 🩷
