I placed an order online & when I arrive to pick it up, I was surprised that the restaurant was in the gas station. Any who, the service was cool & the food was ok. The picture is gyro plate, veg, hummus with side of double meat.
UPDATE: Make a long story short. I mistakenly chose pick up instead of delivery when I ordered thru Uber Eats so I called the restaurant to tell them that Uber can’t fix it & if there was any way that they could deliver & unfortunately they said no. I said well, just cancel the drink & I’ll ride my bike to pick it up & hung up the phone. Immediately I get a call back from them saying that they will deliver it to me with no (?)charge! I tried to tip the driver a generous tip but he would not accept it..That was GREAT service.
A friend recommended Papu's, and I was concerned that this was another trendy "restaurant in a gas station" or some other utilitarian place. Papu's, however, transcended that by delivering good food, on time, at a very reasonable price.
I had the Gyro Platter, which has a nicely done gyro accompanied by some hummus, a little salad, and an extra pita. They cooked the meat without being dry; the vegetables were crisp; and the tzatziki sauce was tasty!
The hummus had a nice tang to it, without being overly spicy, and even in the plastic "to go" container, it came out looking good and, more importantly, tasting good.
The service was quick and friendly, and though the location offers a stylish dining room like the expensive places, there were clean places to sit.
If you're looking for a very reasonably priced, well-prepared gyro, this is your place. I'll report in again after I order the shawarma.
PS I ordered through Clover, which has no added fees to the customer, but I'm sure there are fees to the restaurant.
This chicken shawarma sandwich is the best freaking shawarma in Kansas City! I had to take my fiancee here to get her one. She also says it's the best she's ever had. Just get one
