Had a great lunch in between our kayak rental at Kamokila Village. The truck was broken down but George was still there and made us an awesome lamb burger and shave ice. Top notch and a great stop on the Wailua River.
My wife and I were in Kauai for our 5th wedding anniversery and found George of Da Jungle on one of our hiking adventures. George and his new wife were incredibly welcoming, friendly and fun! We had an amazing gyro and then took a dip in the near-by river. It was one of our favorite memories of the trip!
This was my favorite place to eat on Kauai!
Awesome environment to eat and chill-ax at the Kamokila Hawaiian Village.
While I was on island for most of July 2015, Chef George of Da Jungle's classy jungle themed mobile kitchen got moved to a more semi-permanent parking spot inside the main gate. [note: the move from outside to inside the main gate of the village was in response to a wedding which Chef George catered.]
Food on the island is expensive so prepare yourself for a little sticker shock, but then prepare yourself for the best Organic Chicken Gyro ($14) you have ever had, no joke! The sweet potato fries. and the homemade Falafel was also excellent and received rave reviews from everybody I took to Kamokila or brought takeout to from Chef George of Da Jungle. Thanks for three weeks of reliable and simple yet unbelievable yumminess Chef George.
It is free to eat under the main thatched pavillion at the Kamokila Hawaiian Village, while a five US dollar ($5) entry fee is requested to tour the nicely manicured grounds of this preserved, authentic Hawaiian village. This is also a great spot to bring the kids for a kayak or standup paddle board tour of the Wailua river area.
