Veteran's Day Appreciation Meal today. It has been years since I've been to an Olive Garden and I'm pretty sure this is the last one I came to with my son over 10 years ago. I've been meaning to come back one day and see if it's gotten any better since it's still popular with so many people. I just read another reviewer giving One Star for being ignored when he was seated for 7 minutes and two Caucasian men were seated and immediately getting their drink order. I'm also a Caucasian older man and was not asked my drink order right away so I don't think that had anything to do with it ! As a fellow Veteran I hate to hear that , but it was a busy day with so many Veterans taking advantage of this offer they may have unintentionally thought someone else was helping him.
I came in around 3pm and was by myself and seated right away. Once I was seated it did take a while before someone came to take my order , but again the tables were over half full. I got the Chicken Parmigiana with Spaghetti Noodles , Salad , and Breadsticks. The food actually came out pretty quick which I was surprised of that. The Chicken Parmigiana was actually pretty good , not great , but better than expected. I really liked the salad dressing and the salad. The spaghetti and the marinara sauce was not very good and the marinara sauce to me was kind of bitter. The bread sticks were just okay , but I've had better. It was a full meal and I actually took one of the chicken filets and some spaghetti and bread sticks home to my son.
The reason I never came back with my family was that last time we came it reminded me of bad frozen dinners. I especially remember I got the trio and the lasagna was so bad and full of ricotta cheese which I really don't care for that it really turned me off to coming back again and the same with my son. I do have to say it looks like of course they have remodeled and it looks so much nicer than when I remember us coming in. I thought the service was decent for the amount of customers that were in the restaurant and my server was pretty nice. I usually get their name , but missed it this time. He was nice and did come and check on me to see if I needed anything else. I do want to thank Olive Garden and any other restaurant that gives thanks to the Veterans with a meal like this or anything to show their appreciation for the sacrifices we made during our time Serving Our Country.
The lasagna was ok. My son siad it taste like pizza to him. The spaghetti and meatballs were ok too. The unlimited bread sticks were not what we expected but still they were good. We just thought they were something better. I ordered the pasta with shrimp and chicken and creamy soup. It was really good.
It was our first time and our last but we had a good experience.
We were the first people to go in as soon as they open. The waitress was nice but she just needed to slow down and listen to what we're saying. She forgot one order for people of six and we appreciate the waitress with the refills of drinks even though we didn't want any more. The place was nice and clean.
I would say to try it for yourself if you never have and decide for your self. That was my opinion.
Josh was very friendly and helpful. The toscana soup was delicious. The shrimp scampi was okay but the asparagus had a strong flavor in it
