Why haven't I been eating here for years?. I have driven by this place on Jackson Avenue for years and was always intrigued by the big sign with the sharks out front. I used my recent birthday as an excuse to finally check it out. We arrived and were welcomed to come in and choose a table among about six in the front room. Chips and salsa showed up soon after, obviously very fresh with lots of cilantro and a good, warm spice. The menu was larger than expected, with an extensive seafood selection that told me I would potentially be returning at least a few times.
Decisions were made fairly quickly and our wait was typical. The presentation was lovely, with obviously very fresh ingredients providing lots of color on the plates. I didn't even bother with tortillas at first. The carnitas literally melted in my mouth. It was served with grilled white onion, typical rice and beans, and garnished with sour cream, guacamole, and fresh pico de gallo. My companion seemed just as excited as me with her meal of asada and barbacoa tacos. We enjoyed our food at a leisurely pace, taking in the atmosphere and chatter among the locals from the neighborhood. I am positive I will return again and am kicking myself that I didn't try this place sooner.
Although the outside is rough and there are alot of strange people walking around outside. Do not let this scare you from going in. The people that work there are so nice and provided excellent service to our party of 20. The food was also very good!
