My sister & brother-in-law took me for all you can eat chicken tenders, catfish & bbq last time I visited. The restaurant was packed when we arrived & we had to wait a minute for them to clean a table for us. I started with chicken tenders & catfish & opted for collard greens & green beans for sides. The greens were flavorless, but the green beans were good. They weren't overcooked & they were well seasoned. The chicken tenders were okay, but the catfish was absolutely amazing! It was perfectly battered, perfectly cooked & served piping hot with tartar sauce on the side. I have to say the catfish was second best I've ever had. It would have been the best, but across the table, my brother-in-law was brought way overcooked catfish that was dark brown, crunchy & dry. Fortunately my sister's catfish was like mine. When I reordered, I only requested catfish as did my brother-in-law. The server brought a plate piled with catfish - some looked gorgeous, cooked perfectly while others were bordering on burnt. One thing I really like about this restaurant is they allow you to change your sides when you reorder. I tried the fried apples & coleslaw & greatly enjoyed both of them. The coleslaw was finely chopped & refreshing. The fried apples were still slightly crisp with a tang. I would return to this restaurant, but next time I'll review the check before paying because when we arrived home & looked at the receipt, we were charged twice for our drinks.
Fast service even if it was busy. I had the Cajun Grilled Chicken with coleslaw, baked potato and fried apples with a Sweet tea. It was so fast that I would have thought the chicken would not be cooked but it was tender and well cooked. The coleslaw was tasty, reminded me of my mother's coleslaw. Baked potato was well cooked. The biscuit was soft. Unfortunately they didn't have real butter only pretend butter. Sweet Tea was delicious though. The portions seemed small or maybe it was because they put my food on a big plate.
I retract my last review. So, excited to see things are as they were. Excellent breakfast! Everything was perfect, right down to the coffee! We will definitely be back!~chef dee
What happened in a month's time, the food was fantastic the first visit. However, this time will be our last. If you can not stay consistent with your menu (changed the gravy, the sausage, and the coffee was like drinking just creamer), I can not keep going back to wonder "will it be good today or not?" So, off my list you go. Sad to say, from a 5 to a 0 if I had my way.
