Bywater in New Orleans is enjoying a post-Katrina resurgence with new shops and restaurants along with many home renovations. It's an easy walk to the French Quarter, too. Read my full review with more pictures of Sneaky Pickle after the jump. With a focus on local organic ingredients, there's always something new on the menu at Sneaky Pickle. There's also a large selection of ciders, beer, and wine. But I was here to eat, so I chose the Buffalo tofu salad which is spicy tofu with grilled cauliflower over greens with sweet onions. The combination of sweet and spicy works really well, and this makes for an excellent lunch salad.
A great vegetarian and organic spot. Had a veggie burger and the seasonal pickled plate. Very fresh! Definitely worth stopping by in the Bywater.
Out-freaking-standing. you have to go. now. i'll wait.. Don't let the grandma-went-to-yard-sales décor and rather strange collection of art throw you - this place is doing amazing things with vegetables that nobody else around is doing. I was stunned. I am neither vegetarian nor vegan, but I do have a passion for veggies and that passion is obviously shared by whatever curator of chlorophyll is slingin tempeh in the back of this place. the beet flatbread is spectacular. the only thing I might add is an optional dollop of sour cream or greek yogurt to give a contrasting texture, coolness and acidity. but man is it good. the buffalo fried tofu with kale is also unreal; just awesome flavor profile. the reuben was excellent as well, and we didn't even put swiss on it. (I know, sacrilege, not my call)...but it didn't even need it, it was that good. on their pickle plate, the green tomatoes were a standout, but the grapes were a miss. overall this place is an exceptional addition to the neighborhood and the city at large. I can't believe everything is this good and they are so new. I give it 4 bearded hipsters, my highest honor. o}-:[> o}-:[> o}-:[> o}-:[>
Great Food, Great People and Cool Building. I will be back. I loved this place.
Eat here!!!! It is trurly amazing. Wonderful staff and the food is perfect.
We drove a bit to get here since it was a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The staff was lovely and there was no wait as we got there when it opened.
I would say that some of the items like the squash salad and the non alcoholic drinks just didn't have any zing to remember but everything else: Mac & Cheese , mushroom and grits, squid ink pasta as all good.
Remember it has Pickle and Brine in the name for a reason, some dishes where not what you would expected but we ordered the Mac and cheese to go for later as we really enjoyed it.
We took our 2yo and he loved the food.
Delicious upscale dining spot.
Food was unique and delicious, though it does suffer from the "high price for tiny portion" trope of upscale dining.
However the food and atmosphere make up for that drawback.
Staff was professional and friendly, and cocktails are delicious and worth pairing with your entree.
The food was really delicious and there was a lot of it. I'm not vegetarian or vegan but I am dairy free. I found it easy to find good food options that accommodated what our restrictions are. The drinks were pretty good too.
This place is absolutely delicious! Excellent food quality, quantity & prices! Service is good too! Great option for Vegan & Carnivores alike!
WOW! Amazing food, incredible atmosphere, wonderful service. By far my favorite vegan eats in the south! 10/10
1. This place has all gender bathrooms. That means you don't have to wait to do your business.
2. The waitstaff is phenomenal. 10/10 service and ambience.
3. And the food is delicious. Like holy cow, I was blown away from the appetizers to the main course. You will not be disappointed here.
This restaurant is a definite stop if you're looking for delicious food!
We had the pleasure of dining at Bar Brine recently and came away very impressed. Great atmosphere with delicious food and cocktails. We tried many dishes and the squid ink pasta, mackerel crudo and buffalo tofu lettuce wraps were some of our favorites. Get over to the Bywater and try this food!
Amazing food, service, cocktails in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend the hand pulled squid ink noodles.
My wife is a vegetarian, I eat everything.
Perfect place to get what we both love!
Everything was exquisite. I thought prices were fair. Truly an outstanding food experience. All the flavors were perfect. Plus, staff was super friendly and attentive. One of my new favorite restaurants in New Orleans.
My husband found this gem while on vacation in NOLA. We’re always looking for vegan fare when we travel, and this did not disappoint. I ordered the Sneaky Pickle plate (and giggled as I did) and my jaw dropped when they brought it out. Who’d have thought “The Sneaky Pickle Plate” would be rainbow art, too pretty to eat?? I was legitimately sad to destroy it.
We even looked over at other tables getting their food and thought “Man, that looks amazing, too!” I wish I had a bigger belly so I could have tried everything. I guess we’ll just have to come back!
Just delicious! the place to go if you want real cuisine that’s health conscious. They have decadent food also- a great option for a group that needs a wide range of options.
A cool place to eat FRESH tasty food. My wife and I enjoyed lunch. She had a greens plate with Japanese turnips - tasty. I had an egg sandwich with sweet potato slice and brioche bun. Actually filling!
The drinks were also great. She had a Spritz - Elderflower, dry vermouth, champagne and 🍋. I had a Ginger mint Lemonade which was REFRESHING!
We really liked our food & drinks here. We did end up ordering quite a bit of stuff, but everyone loved it all:
Hand-Cut Fries - These were actually kinda average, fried well, but just standard
Charcuterie - This dish shines, the meats, the cheeses, the mustards, all super great!
Cauliflower & Granols - This was amazing, so so so good.
Squid Ink Noodles - The wife reported this as being very good
Burger - This was a tasty burder, the bacon had excellent flavor
Reuben - I'm not a vegetarian, but I ordered this anyway, and it was quite nice. I'd get it again.
For drinks, we got some local(ish) beers that were yummy, and a couple of cocktails, the glittery one was just OK though.
For service, everyone we encountered was great and we didn't have any issues.
Some of the best food in the area, with a super cute and pandemic friendly courtyard. Definitely the best vegan Mac and cheese I've come across, writing this review is making me crave it already. Will absolutely be back, hopefully they can open back up fully again soon
One of the best lunch spots I’ve been to in awhile. Low-key but well decorated corner spot, with friendly staff and delicious food. One of the best burgers I’ve had in the city. Can’t wait to return and try the rest of the menu!
Well worth the short wait to get in. We ended up going 2 nights in a row because the food was so good. The staff was great and everything on the menu was well thought out and delicious. I highly recommend the gnocchi, the scallops, and the mushroom dish.
We heard from locals that this place was amazing but we had to check it out for ourselves. This place blew our expectation out of the park! The ambiance was beautiful and the food was so flavorful! We had the buffalo tofu lettuce wraps, the gnocchi and the wagyu burger and everything was to die for!! Seriously a must and we will be back next time we’re in town!
