Great casual environment with upscale food and attentive, quick service. The buttermilk biscuits with the bacon and sweet butter was amazing. Biscuit was moist and tasted great even without the butter. The pork belly? Man, one of the best things I ever tasted, though I wish it was served a few degrees warmer. But the pork belly was so tender, juicy, and flavorful, and had a good amount of heat that sticks with you. It melts in your mouth.
I was underwhelmed by the fried chicken, however; the sweet glaze was a little too sweet for my tastes and the batter to chicken ratio was completely off. The chicken I did get was juicy, tender, and flavorful, but I wish there was either more of the chicken or less of the batter. Some bites were just pure batter crunch and kind of distracting. The perfect fried chicken to me has a thin, yet commanding crunch, so I just wish they used significantly less batter.
The chocolate cake was good, but it was paired with a Cajun-spiced granola. Ambitious attempt, but the flavor and texture combination absolutely didn’t work for me, but perhaps my palette isn’t sophisticated enough to appreciate it. Overall I’d give the place a 4.5, but since I can’t do that, I will round up to 5 for the excellent food and great service.
Before I say anything about the food, let me tell you - the staff here will make you feel at home. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful and our server Tori was exceptional explaining with incredible detail each and every dish of the menu. The chef does an outstanding job mixing Caribbean flavors with otherwise “normal” dishes ensuring an out-of-body experience. No kidding. My wife and I got here ahead of the reservation and got seated right away. The food came very timely and everything was incredible - best biscuit I’ve ever had, best mango salad I’ve ever had, best fried chicken I’ve ever had. They change their menu frequently but no fear - everything is delicious.
Cute spot with great atmosphere. Our waitress was super nice and helpful.
We got the biscuits (were ok) with the honey butter (10/10) and bacon butter to start. And then the papaya salad at the recommendation of our waitress. Slightly spicy but overall a great salad.
Fried chicken was a bit too salty and the goat curry was not to our taste.
Cute spot though!
