This was my very first pizza I had in New York. After trying all the “best“ pizza places in New York. This place is probably still my favorite. I absolutely love the sauce.
The service is always excellent. The waitresses are extremely friendly. The restaurant is clean and definitely has an authentic Italian feel to it. I can only review the pizza because it’s so good. I can’t bring myself to try something else if I ever do I’ll review that as well but for now, I’ll just say the pizza is outstanding.

Amazing pizza. I would stay simple on the toppings and keep it some what plain to allow the flavor from the coal pizza oven to really speak out. The flavors were amazing and the pizza was crispy and also soft on the inside. Cheese was also good and everything mixed together well. Service seemed a disorganized but not super disorganized. Overall amazing food and decent service
One of the best coal fired pizzas in NYC. If you are a fan of coal fired pizza, you must give Angelo's Pizza a try.
The sauce is incredible - a hearty, robust style sauce with a touch of sweet. It's perfect. The crust- also excellent. Soft yet crispy with the perfect amount of char.
I typically judge a new pizza by first trying cheese only, but I went with half cheese, half pep/sausage this time and I'm so glad I did.
My experience was fantastic. Service and atmosphere were perfect. Very Italian, pizzeria ambiance. Will definitely be back.
Food/Pizza:
Dined here due to incredibly high reviews on their pizza. The pizza crust was perfectly crisp with little to no flop. Only note is we felt it could have been a little bit more flavorful (seemed to be light on the sauce/cheese). Overall fantastic pizza and would recommend if a good crust is most important to you.
Other Info:
The place was packed when we arrived and we had a short wait. The service was pretty average for the crowd, but the tables felt a little cramped. Also with a full restaurant, the 2 restrooms have quite a long wait and the line flows into the top dining room which can lead to some tables being hovered over.
We came here because we heard it was some of the best pizza in New York. They were right. This pizza was ridiculous. We got the white pie which is different cheeses. My husband never eats ‘just a cheese pizza’ but this was so good we couldn’t stop eating it. We also got a sausage and mushroom pizza that was also made perfectly. You have to go here!!
Found this place through a google search… best google search I’ve ever made. Amazing, amazing, amazing food and amazing service as well! This is hands down the best coal fired pizza I have ever had. We came in around 8:30 on a Friday, got seated immediately, and were immediately greeted by our server. Service was quick and attentive without being overbearing. Now.. the food.. oh my goodness. The pizza was perfect, along with the meatballs. The sauce was perfect, not too sweet and not too heavy at all. If you’re in the area, the walk is worth it for Angelo’s.
Short walk from the Carousal near Sheep Meadow at Central Park. Good food and drinks. We had the large pepperoni and sausage and another large veggie. For drinks we had The Manhattan. All very tasty. The service could be a bit better as our orders we messed up. No sausage on pizza 2 times. The manager had to be called and he offered us dessert which was again excellent.
The food was good, not the best pizza I have ever had by any means though. Sauce is very sweet and not a ton of cheese but it is still a great pie. It is jam packed all the time so be prepared for a wait and a loud dinner but I still enjoyed it.
This place is everything I want in an Italian restaurant. Such a cool atmosphere and all the food looked amazing. We came for the pizza and it was good, but didn't stand up to some of the other top tier pizzerias like Di Fara, Luigi's and John's of Bleeker. We got just cheese and sundried tomatoes. The pie was a bit too thick and doughy for my taste. I like a thin and crispy pizza. But you could tell the ingredients were fresh and quality. Maybe if it was left in the oven another minute or two, that would have made the difference. Either way, I would definitely come back and try some of their other food, because like I said, it looked amazing!!
Great, delicious, meats in your mouth, one of the best Alfredo pasta and Penny pasta, that I’ve tasted. Service was ok. They seated us outside because we wanted to but they moved us because they said they are closing outside seating now. So, we ended up seating indoors. They were a little rude about it like who told you it was ok to sit outside? Other than that it was wonderful.
Stopped in around 4 pm on a Friday. The place was packed but they were able to seat me solo. I did notice that the entire upstairs dining room was empty so there was plenty of room despite the packed situation downstairs.
The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was pretty cool and vintage. Cool to see the coal fired oven in the back.
I came specifically for the pizza with knowledge of Dave portnoy's monster review. Was not disappointed. Border the buratta appetizer which can with side of warm delicious bread, olive oil, bed of arugula and tomatoes. Have not had buratta in a long time and it was a real treat. Tasted very fresh and delicious.
I ordered a small 13 inch pie. They offer sizes in 13 and 17 inch, and it's only $4 difference to go with the larger size. Pepperoni topping was $4 extra no matter if you wanted half or whole, pretty standard rule.
The pizza is margarita style with fresh mozzarella. The sauce is so tasty and the crust bready yet crispy with the perfect amount of char.
The pepperonis were probably my favorite part. They use the high quality cupping type. Yummy.
My experience was fantastic. I will definitely be back.
One of the highlights of our NY trip. Crazy busy but they seated our party of 6 in 10 minutes. Pizza was awesome and took maybe 15 minutes from ordering to arrive at our table. Employees were literally running. Pricing was inexpensive. Great job.
You know it's good when there's a line out the door! Quick service and excellent food! The Arugula & Fennel salad was delicious. "Don't get more than 1 topping 'cause then it's not pizza anymore!"
Food: Pizza was amazing. The dough was what really stood out. You can taste the coal oven difference in this pizza. I came here based on the One Bite 9.3 review. Overall, I don't agree that it's 9.3 level good but it was pretty good.
Service: Great and attentive service. Really nice people all around.
Atmosphere: It was a cool spot. I did go on a Sunday lunch time so it was full of a ton of tourists, but overall it was good.
My friends were craving pizza so we ended up choosing this location based on reviews. I personally had pasta (Spaghetti Scampignola aka Shrimp Scampi) bc I am not a fan of authentic pizza but my friends loved both the pizza and the Branzino. Service was great too! 😊
We got the appetizer, meatball that came with three large meatballs. The marinara sauce was spot on and the meatballs or tender and perfectly done. We also got a white pie with sausage that was fantastic all the way around. A slight char on the crust was well done.
We were lucky enough to stay in a hotel very close to this pizza spot. Great and fast service, friendly atmosphere and it was packed with lots of people but we were able to get in without a reservation. The pizza is delicious and very authentic, great crust. Would recommend the pepperoni pizza and the cannoli for dessert!
Came to Angelo’s for a Thursday lunch. Calamari was great. Pizza was amazing. Complimentary bread. We enjoyed the atmosphere & having a place to sit. Would definitely return!
This was our first stop being close to our hotel. Found it from the Barstool videos. Pizza was fantastic. Think it hit just right because of the long wait and anticipation of getting to NYC for some pie. We went heavy on toppings ordering pepperoni, sausage and Prosciutto. Outstanding. Crust was nearly perfect but because of all the meat had a little flop but not too soggy. Probably doesn’t get the PR some of the others do but was as good as any we had while in NYC. Not a huge dining area but had seating up and downstairs. Staff was good and attentive.
