I was not supposed to come here, but I'm so happy I did. I was supposed to be eating at a fancy restaurant, but last minute change of plans brought me to Tacombi. I had the best tacos ever. I started off with the Corn Esquites and it was really tasty with a spicy sauce. I didn't know corn can taste so good. My waitress Genesis suggested I try the shrimp taco and the avocado tostada and I also took the slow-roasted pork taco. Luckily I listened to her as the shrimp one was the highlight. I walked out of there stuffed and happy. These were the best tacos I've ever had.
Solid tacos. Great service. The baja and carnitas are my favorite, but they recently added birria which is also good. They also have quesadillas, breakfast tacos, and burritas. The green sauce on the table is also amazing, not spicy which is a great option for folks who just want a little extra zing on top. I love that they kept the paper option to order - quick and easy!
We ended up at this Mexican restaurant unexpectedly on our first night in NY. It was a great find. The food was flavourful and very quick to arrive.
We got the classic guac and chips. While the guac came from the fridge (not freshly made when the order was placed), it still had good flavour. I do prefer it was freshly made. We also got the corn - also tasted good and was pre-made, kept in the fridge.
I tried the sweet potato and black bean taco. It was pretty good but I do wish the taco was a bit more warmer. We also got the avocado tostado - which is very crispy.
The speed our food arrived, I can see a lot of their dishes are made and they simply bring it to you. Not sure if that’s because we arrived one hour before closing or that’s the typical flow of their kitchen. They had many server staff and kitchen staff working so not sure. I was glad that the food tasted good so it worked out.
Server staff were all very nice and checked in with us a few times.
