Went for weekend brunch today; great experience. Every dish we tasted was flavorful and good quality. Only thing is that they were not prepared with so many people coming on the first weekend of opening, so dishes were running out and they were working hard to make them fast.
In the buffet we sampled, chickpea salad, cut fresh veggies, green salad, pakodas (they were getting over fast, so I stole from my hubby's plate), baby corn, some other stir fried veggies (didn't care much for those), Chilli chicken, greek chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer palak, rice, peshavari dal, rice kheer, masala chai and some gulabjamun. Gulab Jamun was too sweet for me, somehow could eat only 1/4th of it. Preferred kheer over it. My tandoori chicken I couldn't eat, was done in hurry I felt. They should reduce the size of gulabjamun since most were eating only half. But over all great experience.
I visited Urban Spice on its opening day on Wednesday 07/25/2018. It was wonderfully decorated. Food made by this group (Same folks that own Biryani Bowl) has always been my favorite. I liked how spacious it is. I think it can hold up to 300 people for banquets! Loved the cocktails made by the bartender! All in all, a high five to a gem of a place tucked away in the middle of Newark!
Had been here for evening drinks and snacks which was good. Came back for buffet. Food selection is decent, not much different from any other bay area Indian buffet at this price point. 4 stars because some of the food items were not warm even though we arrived by noon.
Updates from 10/08/2019: changed the rating to 5 star. Visited this place again for evening drinks and family dinner. Great food (I would let pictures do the justice) and enjoyed the service. Will definitely come again for this experience. It does seem like evening menu based food/service is different (much better) than other forms like lunch buffet.
