Seven weekends of Magical Dining Month. Seven restaurants chosen for amazing menu effort. Too many restaurants phone it in for MDM and offer chicken (boring) or a cedar-plank salmon (yawn). Out of literally hundreds of restaurants, you have to stand out somehow. I ranked all the restaurants, and sought out the best of the best.
Boi Brazil was one of the best of the best. Obviously, it's a little different, with the salad bar, the meat, and the desserts, but still, the way it was presented, and the fact that I haven't been to a Brazilian steakhouse in years, meant that this place made my top seven. So I made my reservations, showed up on time, and got seated immediately.
I was instantly bombarded by the meat guachos. Offers left and right, flank steak, garlic steak, bacon-wrapped chicken, barbecue chicken, the picanha, everything you can imagine. There's a sense of overwhelming to it at first, but don't fret, just collect your meat, collect your thoughts, and divide and conquer.
The salad bar. You obviously don't want to fill up here. Skip the salad, grab very few fun items, like the mushrooms and the mozz balls, and visit the hot bar for some meat accompaniments, like rice and beans, maybe a roll. After your one visit to the bar, grab another big plate and bring it back to the table so you can have a good work surface for your meat.
If you look at the MDM menu, it names dozens of meat options, but you'll notice that a few of them are the ones you see most often, like the flank steak, the chickens, etc. The premium options don't rotate as often, for obvious reasons, so don't be afraid to keep saying no thank you and waiting for the good stuff. I even had to special request the beef ribs come to me. Don't be afraid of that either.
Overall, the best meats I remember were the picanha, the rarer the better, the parmesan pork was amazing, the Brazilian sausage was delicious, had a good snap to it, the barbecue chicken was scrumptious, and as long as you get it medium rare, the lamb was wonderful, too. So aim for these meats.
After you get your fill of the meats, take your time, you get to the desserts. The Flan (A blend of condensed milk, milk, eggs and caramel) and the New York Style Cheesecake (America original cheesecake served with a strawberry topping) were both a-ok, and you will be craving something sweet at the end of all this umami.
Overall, I'm so happy that I got into a Brazilian steakhouse again after so many years away. And I'm so happy they participate in MDM. I hope they get a lot of new traffic and a lot of new, loyal customers. Thanks for the great meal, Boi Brazil .
