EDIT: Fixed some typos today. Due to this Google shows I reviewed it today when in fact I reviewed it more than 4 years ago. Thanks
As part of consulting work I have traveled a lot and literally eaten at every single Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern restaurant in places like Houston, Dallas, Bay Area, etc. Other big metros I have eaten quite a bit too so you can say I have some experience.
Was reading reviews while waiting for food and started wondering why some customers gave this place low rating because I have eaten here at least 20 times in last couple of months (only dinners) and food has always been top notch + authentic. Maybe once in a while type of experience some people had or out of state customers ended up comparing it to best restaurants in places like New York?
To be honest I don't believe in reviewing restaurants not local to me as I might end up comparing restaurant at place A to the best restaurant at place B. Where does my quality bar stand is a real question. One should always compare restaurants to other LOCAL restaurants imo because local dynamics play a big role. You cannot find same quality chef in a small town compared to big metro, for example, or have access to fresh halal meat, etc in certain markets.
Anyway, maybe it was my own taste but I found Chaska Grill to be the best restaurant from Orlando east to Tampa west and I am saying this after eating at a dozen different desi restaurants in this area. There were times when I drove more than 80 miles round trip to eat here because no other restaurant in areas gave me the taste and service I was looking for. Once in a while type of experiences should never make to a review imo because that can happen even at our households too (this whole review system is flawed if you ask me because us humans tend to leave negative reviews more often than the positive reviews).
To those complaining about cost: need to understand zabiha halal costs more because of the process. If you don't care about zabiha halal what is the point of going to such place to begin with?
Only thing I could think of needing improvement is the young kids serving here lack experience. Positive customer attitude is to let the owner know what needs improvement (he was always there during dinner). I pointed several things and noticed the change means they care and trying to improve (we all started somewhere, right?)
I feel like most of negative reviews are vacations related. Should come here often and then review. That way your review is based on average experience and justified imo.
If owner is reading this: another reviewer has a good point the sign outside is too small. I also found entry door on right to be confusing. Need to make sign bigger and entry more visible. Thank you and God Bless.
Good food no doubt. But not happy with the management. They're not efficient. Family run business, but they like to sit and watch instead of helping their staff to make them more effective.
Went there for the second time. Again poor management. Waiters don't understand the menu. We were served some one else food. Changed without any apologies. Waited for rest of the food for another half hour. So half the family was done eating and rest were waiting for their food. No body came from management (4-5 people sitting behind the counter watching us) came to clarify or apologize. In the end they charged us 15% gratuity for the lousy service.
They may have good food, but lousy service.
The food and service were amazing! We arrived for dinner at nine in the evening, and we still had our food delivered, in full, to us within twenty minutes. The waiters were kind and efficient, and the food simply hit all the right spots. The chicken tikka was tender and just the right amount of spicy; the rice wasn't plain, but had a nice equilibrium of taste that was complimented by the salad of various greens; and the naan was hot and fluffy. Amazing halal restaurant, would definitely recommend!
