I can't say enough about this spot!! The service was amazing. We sat outside on the patio and it was such a beautiful day in California. Loved everything we ordered. The steak tacos were awesome. My husband ordered beef enchiladas. Everything had so much flavor. Guacamole was delicious too. When you visit Palm Springs you must stop in.
The staff was pleasant, and the food was very good. I had a shredded beef Taco Salad, which was good. My husband had two shredded beef tacos, beans, and rice. He really liked it and raved about it twice afterward.
The location is right off the PS strip. You can sit outside, which I suggest, in order to take in the mountain view and PS atmosphere. It also allows you to not see the inside, which I don't think has changed since it first opened. It feels dated and run down, though nothing specifically was wrong.
Their other locations have a lot nicer feel. Las Casuelas is an icon in the valley for how long they have been open, but for this location, I feel that they stopped trying to compete with newer Mexican restaurants when it comes to atmosphere.
They don't have to compete when it comes to their delicious tried and true dishes, though. It's for that reason you need to go there!
Never been here before, my first time and I chose the original Las Casuelas over the newer ones because Frank Sinatra ate there. The place was a little small and the seating was uncomfortable. When I was looking at the menu the server was a bit annoying and kept asking "Are you ready to order?" I ordered the combination plate #5 and my friend ordered combination #1, it was so much food I had to take half of my food to go. Overall the service was good, the food was delicious, the price is a bit high but the portions make up for it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants Mexican food. And definitely go for the historic significance of the restaurant!
