I am beyond elated that I found this restaurant!!! I had the absolute best pan seared salmon with fresh vegetables and amazingly well cooked lentils last weekend at Cibo. The chefs talents show. The crab cake was pure crab with a very nicely done thin crusting. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Upon entering, it is a comfortable atmosphere where everyone from the hostess to the piano player had a smile and were extremely personable.
The waiter was at our table promptly and took our drink order and was back to take our food order as soon as he saw my menu closed I think. Obviously an observant wait staff.
Our drinks were served within minutes of ordering and I was impressed as they were busy.
Our meals came out together and were wonderful!!!!
The flavors in my salmon dish were all complimentary of one another. The crab cake was melt in your mouth fresh.
Thank you chef! You obviously are well versed in your craft.
Did I mention that the new owner even stopped by our table to ask if we were enjoying our dinner?
I love a true Italian restaurant that knows what they are doing and I am happy to have found one for my Philadelphia visits.
Definitely a unique experience! Our friend told us about this when it was Portofino (?) but we never had a chance to visit. We were expecting amazing Italian cuisine, which we certainly received! The restaurant is under a different name, but we learned from our server that Anthony was a chef for Portofino for many years.
We started at the bar, with a couple awesome Old Fashioned rounds from their specialty cocktail menu and had to get a second order of the clams casino (cant remember the italian name on the menu) because they were so good.
We had no idea the servers provided live entertainment until we saw our waitress jump onto stage... The whole wait-staff is extremely talented and provided a wide range of songs. The lady playing the piano sang by herself sometimes and was just as talented, and played more loungy, down-tempo songs like an intermission.
Food came out extremely quickly, considering how busy it was, and it was delicious! The gnocchi (made in house) were different than what I'm used to, but so good, I asked for more bread to sop up the gravy. As we were leaving, we found out the restaurant now "transforms" into a nightclub after dinner on the weekends. We didn't stay long for the club, but the room seemed to fill up with great energy in a matter of minutes.
Will DEFINITELY be stopping by again next time we are in the city!
Philadelphia is known for great music, theater, art, culture and food, and that's what Cibo Ristorante Italiano offers and more. We have visited this fabulous restaurant three times and founded the atmosphere delightful and vibrate, and the food absolutely delicious. Each course made us wanting more, and the talent of the servers and staff was truly exceptionally. It's definitely the go to spot for before a night on the town, and is sure to be a experience not soon forgotten.
