We spent hours looking for a decent place to eat in Philly, that wasn’t a chain, or over priced, or crowded, etc. We tried many places around town – and it seems on a Sunday night a lot of places in Philly close early, or their kitchens close early.
We drove around for 2 hours and got increasingly frustrated & very hungry not being able to find a place to eat. Eventually, we came upon this 24 hour diner and while it wasn’t the kind of place we were looking for, we decided to go in because it was now nearly 9pm and nothing was open.
We decided to give it a shot, and see how it goes.
When we entered there were 2 other tables occupied, and a couple of guys at the counter. The waitress working was very friendly and engaging.
The menu was huge, and had so many items on it. It was a bit overwhelming.
Being that it was so late, and we knew nothing about this restaurant, we chose items that we felt were safe bets.
We had chicken Parmesan, and Mediterranean pasta.
The portions were huge, and very well presented.
The Chicken parm was a tad overcooked, and the Mediterranean pasta was a bit ‘wet’ due to all of the veggies, BUT – otherwise the meals were very good, impressive, and inexpensive.
While we were there – we noticed the waitress seemed to know all of the customers by name. This is clearly a very local spot – where local residents are regulars.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant.
The server was exceptional, very pleasant and engaging.
My husband and I had to drop off a family member in the city and I wanted breakfast. Neither of us had been here before and it wasn't recommended to us by anyone personally who ate here but I checked reviews and pictures. It wasn't too difficult to find some parking on that weekday afternoon when we stopped in.
Walking in we were acknowledged right away and it wasn't crowded either. We were seated and our waitress was very friendly and I was happy with the diner menu. I had cream chipped beef on toast and home fries with a side of some sausage and bacon.
I don't see or get to eat cream chipped beef often, so I was happy about that! This was a favorite of my dad and I growing up. My husband had steak and eggs and he was pleased with his food too. It was cute decor in the diner and seems to be located on a convenient corner there.
First timer it won’t be our last time. Everything was absolutely delicious and filling. Service was great!!
