Lucky's is what I imagine a great American Chinese food spot should be like. The food is reliably good, especially the general Tso's tofu. The portions are hefty, the price is exceptional, and the service is fast. I know some folks that have found the owner to be a bit rude but generally I think he's just gruff. The volume of customers they take care of during busy hours is astounding, so I'm sure they get frustrated when people keep them from being efficient. If you call in for pickup just give them your order, they don't need your name or anything. Also recommended, if you want something a little less saucy, the Mei fun (rice noodles) is always good, and you can get it with your choice of protein.
Everyone I know only gets sesame tofu but because I think outside the Lucky's box I opt for bean curd and mixed vegetables with garlic sauce. Best $4.75 you can spend on west philly. @sean: don't know what you were ordering but you're doing it all wrong.
Lucky's is a traditional Chinese restaurant. They have adequate seating for parties as big as four. The only problem is, you need to walk to the kitchen to receive your food. For fast and convenient service, call ahead to save some time. The most popula dish by far is the Sweat and Sour chicken with General Tso's Sauce and white Rice. Pets welcome
