Steak Fajitas were tasty with just the right amount of spices, chicken taco was also done just right, very tasty food and reasonable prices. Service was excellent and food was served hot and quickly.
We wanted authentic Mexican food and this place had high ratings. It was located a few blocks from Downtown Phoenix with a moderately-sized parking lot. You can dine inside with tableside service or you can call ahead and pick up as evidenced by the pick up only parking spaces at the entrance.
Upon entry, you are able to view the kitchen area in plain sight, there are several tables that you can sit at and if small bar in the corner.
The music was good & made me want to dance (LOL); but must have been on a loop as we heard it twice in the hour we were eating dinner. We made it just in time to enjoy the last 5 minutes of happy hour. I selected a traditional margarita that was surprisingly tasty and not too tangy. The hubby got a Corona. The kids each got horchatas that were really good and appeared to have free refills.
The bathrooms: are locked as they are for customers only per a sign on each bathroom. The women's bathroom bathroom was very clean and well-stocked with real toilet paper and not the rough commercial toilet paper. :-)
The food/meals: The kids shared a bean burrito that was made out of real flour tortilla (approx. 14") and not a thick Ameeican store bought one, the beans were tasty & they used white cheese which was great.
The hubby got carne asada nachos that came with three different types of tortilla chips (red spicy one, yellow corn & blue corn), pinto beans, pico de gallo, jalapeños, sour cream, white melted cheese & guacamole.
In an attempt to stay away from the carbs I ended up choosing something on the menu that was called a carne asada bowl.
Ultimately, it was not a bowl and was a cup of unsavory red rice topped with about 1/2 cup of equally unsavory carne asada, guacamole & pico de gallo that was served on the inner circle of a nine inch plate. I added some salt to give it a little bit more flavor and that helped a bit.
Total of $40... definitely not bad.
The service: we only saw two guys cooking in the back and a young woman who was our waitress. She appeared to speak mostly Spanish but every now and then we would overhear her say something in English. She was extremely friendly and was patient with the kids.
Always a good time at habaneros. Living next door to them makes it really easy for me to go often. The food is all good but my girlfriend and I always split the carnitas nachos with extra cheese and extra carnitas. The breakfast is also good, my favorite is the Kayla’s favorite. The staff is always super friendly. Thanks for Always being good to me Habaneros!
