I came to this place on a whim (it is next to a chinese grocery after all). I loved it! Keep in mind that the fried chicken does take 15-20 minutes to come out since they make it FRESH! Now I've had freshly cooked korean fried chicken at other places and it always felt like it was overpriced and not worth it. NOT HERE! I got the wings and drumstick medium meal and it was a big portion! I ordered it thinking I would finish it and be hungry afterwards. Instead I took half of it home after eating my fill. The sauce was delicious, the chicken was beautifully crunchy outside, and juicy and moist inside. It was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. I definitely plan to come back here sometime. I suppose my only complaint: I could've used some wet wipes as the sauce is sticky. Sweet and sticky.
Can you say hot and spicy??? Eating spicy foods and loving it from China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand and other Asian countries, when the waitress here said the house dish was spicy I was like “no problem! I got this!” Gotta give props though - even when she raised her eyebrow I momentarily thought maybe I should change my dish I didn’t, I followed through like a champion :)
Champion I was not....the house dish was so hot that drinking water just spreads the heat so I ordered a Boba (which was not good - please don’t order Boba from here unless you need it like I did!) it helped at least with taming the fire inside my mouth. Fair enough though, I was warned....HOWEVER, the chicken didn’t absorb the heat like the rice noodle and it was spicy and good! AND, if you wipe off the extra sauce on the noodle again, it’s spicy and tolerable...at some point I think my mouth went numb and I became more daring :)
With that being said...tried the same dish at H-Mart and would eat it again here hands down! I even picked out the chicken and had it with steamed rice the next day from here at home. So good!
We also tried the wings and potstickers.
Would come back again!
Monster swings and banging sauce is what Chick N' Straws is all about. This spot is located next to 99 ranch in Plano. On this night I decided to try their jumbo order of 20 wings (19.99$) with half sweet n hot and half hot. After 15 mins, I picked up the food and took it home to eat it with rice because that’s what we Viet folks do with chicken wings and it was delicious. The wings themselves are monsters and the flavor is spot on. The sweet n hot are relatively mild and a nice savory sweetness that was just delightful. The hot ones are for sure hot but also had great flavor that was perfect with rice. On a different note, the interior of the restaurant was not much to look at. It was dark with low lighting which I don’t why they did that. Maybe is a budget thing. Anyways, that doesn’t matter. The wings here are bomb and I will probably get it again this week.
