The first thing that one notices upon entering the restaurant is a huge birdhouse. I was initially perplexed but it all made sense once we were seated in their patio. It's surrounded by a slew of birdhouses with a gigantic fountain in the center of it all. I don't get the motive, but it's a very unique Portland thing to do. To this day, I believe this is the best restaurant patio in all of Portland.

The food is farm-to-table Pacific Northwest inspired. We ordered a bunch of items. We particularly enjoyed their cauliflower soup and their crab deviled eggs. My pasta had the proper amount of sauce, it was seasoned perfectly, and had a pleasant texture. The salads were fresh and the pizza had an astounding crust.

The staff was attentive, accommodating, and didn't rush us. The wine was good as well as their cocktails. The only major negative is that we had to send several drinks back because of dirty glassware.

The restaurant was decorated with fall produce which made it seem like we were in a country kitchen. I really enjoyed sharing the pantry board that had five different options like mushroom and squash arancini and Dungeness crab deviled eggs. I had the "Skyline Beet Salad" and a winter squash soup with roasted pumpkin seeds and both were well prepared. I also got to taste the seafood risotto which was creamy and delicious.

Great ambience. Love the ambience in this place. My wife and I like stopping by for a glass of wine. This feels like alot of the boutique bars you'd find in Berkeley.

Worth the price!. So fresh and delicious and dining out in their garden was perfect for an early Spring morning. We had our nephew too and they were really nice about having a rambunctious kid in a fancy setting.

Do Some Culinary EXPLORING here!. Dinner June 7
Took some folks there (we had a Party of 5) and it was a perfect location for a classy, yet casual dinner. We ate outside in the "backyard" of the building under a tent of sorts. Very romantic, very "outdoorsy" making this a dining experience you wont soon forget.
Everything we ate was incredibly fresh! As in the salad tasted like it was just picked minutes before being served.
Loved the appetizer "Pantry Boards". we got 2 of 5 each. Yes it was a bit much, but we all wanted to try something different: deviled eggs, humus and risotto fritters were all favs at the table!
Salads were freshest I think I every tasted. We got 3 different ones at the table and everyone thought they were mouthwatering!
Foccacio bread was great, we got about 5 servings.
All dinner guest but me have some sort of fish and they all raved about how good it was prepared and how fresh it tasted. I got the steak - big mistake. It didn't come out as I had ordered and they fired me up another one. Even so, this was not a $40 steak. BUT, to the management's credit, they comped my steak since I had to wait so long to get a new one.
Dessert was very good as well and capped off an outstanding meal!
Our waitress may have been one of the best servers I have had ever had. Totally professional, friendly and offered great advice and suggestions. She made us all feel welcomed, appreciated and took care of every need.
There are many good restaurants in Portland...this is one of the better ones.

Great lunch menu. Enjoyed a tasty lunch today. Have yet to be disappointed with this restaurant for both lunch and dinner. There is always a good atmosphere day and night. Sometimes it is difficult to decide what to opt for on the lunch menu as the choice is so varied! The portions are big enough to share and the price is reasonable. Fantastic outside area with water fountain and fire pit. Always good to know the food is sourced from a local farm farm supplying seasonal variation. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Best brunch. I went here for brunch last weekend and fell in love! Amazing fresh local food and cozy atmosphere. I got the breakfast pizza with butternut squash and bacon- it was delicious. My only complaint was the bottom of the pizza was WAY over-floured. My boyfriend got the crab omelet, they did not skimp on the crab as many places do. The potatoes were crispy and delicious. Will definitely return.

Fantastic brunch. I had the puff pancake with strawberries and lemon crema. It was wonderful! Exactly what I wanted. Puffy, golden, custard like pancake topped with incredible strawberries baked into the top. The lemon crema was perfect, much better than syrup. The side of bacon that I ordered was also great, very crispy and flavorful.

A New Favorite In Portland!. Last night we dined at Meriwether's, what a delight! Beautiful ambiance with a fireplace, impeccable service and delicious food. Loved the Carmelized Apples on the fresh baby greens salad and the Osso Bucco was perfectly prepared. Our waitress helped us pair the perfect wine with our dinner and the Lemoncillo pie was sooo good. Can't wait to return! :)

Organic and Fresh. I love Meriwethers because it's all organic and fresh. The menu is a bit sparce. I've been a couple times and had some dishes that were great and others that were just okay, but all in all a great restaurant. Their outdoor patio is so inviting as well. Last time I was there I got their sampler dish - not recommended for a 6 year old, but I liked having the extra selection

Saturday night, crowded but service still very good. Food was very nice with good flavors. Risotto with mushrooms very good dish. Bread pudding was interesting more towards a bread with little pudding tasted good just not a traditional bread pudding for me.

Beautiful patio. This place is a diamond in the "not so rough" but off the beaten path.

The food here is pretty good and if your able to get a patio seat the garden is nicely manicured and a lot more enjoyable than the inside. The inside is not bad but the outside is a different world. The wait staff seemed to be plenty although it did take a few minutes to get certain things.

Food on a scale from 1-10 would be in the 6-7 range. They offer a nice variety in which you can pick up to 5 things for 18.00. This is a nice way to sample a bunch of different things.

I would definetely go back.

Great Place. We have entertained guests 3 times now at Meriwether's and they have been great every time.
Their back patio is great in the summer, and the early seating by the downstairs fireplace is ambiance at it's best.
From the fresh and local farm produce to the attentive staff, they will not disappoint.

I have been lucky enough to dine at Meriwethers 5 or 6 times, each time food and service were spot on! Farm fresh organic food and a seasonal menu I can't wait to return. Brunch is awesome too and nice outdoor seating. Gorgeous atmosphere.

Always solid. Love the food -- the salads are amazing. the prices are outrageous, but they are very kid friendly and the atmosphere, while not romantic at all, feels like a great sunday afternoon.

Meriwether's is a true "farm to table" restaurant - they have a farm (Skyline Farm) where they grow all of the produce used in the restaurant. The meats, cheeses, poultry and fish all are sourced locally as well, so you can look forward to an ever changing menu offering whatever the best is that the Northwest has to offer at any given time.

y In 1805, explorers Meriwether Lewis and Daniel Clark were deep in the midst of the first transcontinental exploration to the West Coast of the United States; in 1905, to celebrate the centennial of that expedition , Portland hosted a "world's fair", the Lewis and Clark Exposition . At that time in history, "World's Fairs" were held annually in cities around the world, as showcases of the local resources and potential opportunities for both companies and individuals. The building which housed the entrance area to that exposition now houses Meriweather's - an apt location for a restaurant that concentrates on featuring food prepared using local resources - in fact, Meriwether's has their own nearby farm and serves in excess of 8 tons of locally grown produce annually. Open for lunch Mon-Fri, dinner seven days, and weekend brunch, the chef has come up with an interesting menu with new twists on old favorites, and created a number of his own darin

This takes the top spot for our favorite restaurant! I can't say enough about this place. They have their own farm for local fresh and creative produce which leads to their seasonal and tasty recipes that are just excellent! The staff makes you really feel at home and comfortable there. The place is lit with low warm lighting and the decor is a perfect mix of comfortable with stylish - very well done. I hear the patio is amazing. This place is the perfect place for a drinks, business meetings, a family meal or a romantic date. You will be guaranteed to get high quality and nutritious food with five-star recipes. I would be a regular if I could afford it... the prices are what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. I have been to many others of this price range but none could compare to the level of this place!

Just went here for my birthday. It was quite expensive, but you're paying for quality here. The food is made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the tastes go well together. I liked the way a lot of the dishes seemed really creative (I'd have never thought to include pickled cherries but they sure were tasty!). The drinks there are great too, not too sweet. I also appreciated the subdued but not stiflingly fancy atmosphere. Obviously, you'll want to make reservations if you're working on a specific timetable or have a larger party. On a side note, the location is nice and has good parking, is readily accessible by public transit, and less than 10 minutes away from a lot of interesting shops over in the Northwest district; this is useful if you want to make a full day of your visit to Portland. Summary: All the buzz I'd heard was right, and it's great for any celebrations, just be prepared to either spend a lot or split the bill.

Instantly noticed the interesting and fun interior that dates back to many years ago but still feels kept up to date. The menu was very impressive, and came with an insert that explained that current fresh produce from their farms. The menu also called out their sources for various ingredients like cheeses. The pantry plate was a wonderful way to try a bunch of their different small dishes. I got the mushroom risotto and it was prepared fantastically! My only qualm was the attitude from the waitress upon inquiring about adding some chicken to our salad and splitting our check. She seemed very annoyed with what I felt were reasonable requests, but maybe she was just having a bad shift? Overall awesome dining experience! Great food for the price. I will most certainly be returning here to try more items from the menu!

We enjoyed our meals with our friends and all agreed the food was great. A little too crowded for my taste. I like a little more room so we can talk to our company. My steak was well done and not medium rare like I ordered it. I hate sending things back, but when you pay these prices it should be perfect. The waiter asked how things were so I reluctantly told him. He was visibility annoyed and I watched him as he walked over to the manager to show her the steak. Very unprofessional service! Just pretend, then do and say what you want out of my line of sight... Oh well. The steak came back perfectly. Thankfully I'm a fast eater and I finished my dinner at the same pace as my group.

Pleasant service and the food was fresh and of high quality, much of which is from their own local farm. Value is severely lacking, however. I ordered the clam tagliatelle, which was fantastic, but I expected more than four (yes, only four) clams on top of the dish. No chopped clams amongst the dish, the "clam" portion was basically a garnish. Almost made me feel ripped off after paying $26 for a small plate of mostly pasta. Worth a try but don't come hungry.

We went to Meriwether's to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. We ate outside on the patio and the aroma was so tantalizing with he smells of fresh bread and the growing garden. I was telling my husband the only thing that could have made the night even more perfect was if we could have arranged for it to be slightly warmer and as if reading my mind someone walked by and gave me (along with several others) a blanket for my legs. I had a lasagna like I have never experienced before a freshly rolled out noodle stuffed with a variety of fresh and local mushrooms and some impressive sauce. My husband also really enjoyed his lamb ravioli. They also surprised us with a complimentary glass of champagne. We followed the champagne up with a flour-less chocolate torte that was topped with local huckleberries. Only complaint would be for the bar .. I felt like we sat for quite a while waiting for our drinks. As excited as I was for my drink I didn't like it at all .. the good thing is the server and the bar tender were eager to fix it and came up with something I liked much better. Side Note: if you like a VERY strong martini you would have loved this. The crowd at Meriwether's was slightly older and that almost scared me off at first. I think in this case older and wiser is evident because everything was truly wonderful.

I have only been here once for dinner, so take this review with a grain of salt. The food was very good and for the most part reasonably priced for a nice dinner out. Out of the three dishes I was looking at, two of them were steep. My father-in-law and I split two dishes so we could try more. We ordered the beef Wellington and the pan roasted chicken. Both were very good, but the chicken had the more appropriate price range. Still, we mentioned to each other about splitting the dishes and the waiter overheard us and had the dishes cut in half for us. That was very cool. Also, doing that lowered the cost. Again, it was great food. Just felt like a high price for very specific dishes, not the restaurant as a whole. After dinner we had some desserts which were extremely good. Their chefs are all very skilled. I also enjoy the local sourcing. That is probably what raised the costs. None the less, we will be back to try the brunch. I am already salivating in anticipation. One thing we noticed on the way out, they have a jar of mini play dough tubs for the children. Brilliant.

If you're looking for a restaurant with beautiful outdoor seating, this is your place. It's just far enough away from the heart of downtown that you can enjoy a quiet evening in a magical garden, but close enough in that you don't feel like you have to go incredibly out of your way to get here. The food is plated beautifully, though the portions seem a little on the smaller end. It's a romantic setting for a special occasion, but probably wouldn't choose this place for just a standard date night.

One of the best restaurants in portland hands down. I was renovating my kitchen one thanksgiving, so my family and I went there for our thanksgiving dinner and it was probably one of the best thanksgiving meals iv ever had. Even my mom was humbled! It was served family style over several courses. what a great night! Iv heard the brunch is amazing too.
