Stopped in while traveling through the area. Prepare to wait a bit if you’re dining on a weekend after 9:30 but they have a decent size waiting area. Felt homey. Prompt service, waitress was kind food came quick.
Biscuits and gravy were OK - gravy was mildly bland and just smothered the biscuit. Wish there was ground sausage or something to break up the thick, blob of gravy. Would come back and try something else. Super affordable! Would easily pay $20 for 1 order of biscuits and gravy in Seattle but that was total cost of our bill for 2 orders.
The server Carrie is pure love and joy. In the hour we were there, she touched my heart and filled my soul with everything good. I wish I lived in Portland just so I could be in her presence on a regular basis.
And the breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The chicken fried steak was the best I've ever had and the French toast was perfect. And I'd say that regardless of the amazing dose of love and positivity I left the with thanks to Carrie.
A nice place to stop for a classic diner breakfast with large portions, good service
and a menu with a number
of options.
It was not busy on a Tuesday
morning, and I was told to sit
anywhere.
I reviewed the menu and
selected the three egg breakfast with country sausage, two pancakes,
and a glass of orange juice.
I received my order in about
fifteen minutes with no
problems.
The country sausage was
big and thick with good taste.
The eggs were not overcooked
and had good taste.
The pancakes were huge
and fluffy, but were not
really hot. The butter did
not melt on the lukewarm
pancakes.
Located on NE Halsey and
114th Avenue in the Gateway
District of Portland.
The breakfast and lunch
menu is served all day.
The lunch menu offers
burgers, steaks, sandwiches
and a number of other items.
A great place for diner breakfast and lunch with
good food, friendly service
and famous for a stop by
President Obama.
