This is my local and for a good reason. Tom and the staff pour the best pint of Guinness you'll enjoy on the west coast, and frankly in all of the US. Having returned from Dublin recently(and "sampled" many a pint there), I honestly I can say that the Guinness you drink at O'Leary's is just as good, if not better in some cases, than the pints you'll drink in Ireland. The food is delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced (I recommend the Haddock Chowder, Shepherd's Pie, and of course the Fish and Chips). If you're looking for as close to an authentic Irish Pub in Portland, OR, as you'll get in the Pacific Northwest, T.C. O'Leary's is the place to go. Sláinte mhaith!
It's only a little over a week old and I can't say enough about the place. I am so happy that this authentic Irish pub is so close by. Being Irish myself, I've rarely found an Irish pub in the U.S. to truly feel like a pub back home. I tried out the full Irish breakfast last Saturday and the homemade rashers and black pudding were delicious! I am gluten free so I wasn't able to try out the sausages but I've heard from good sources that they're great. I am surprised at how their chef, Liam, has mastered in-house, homemade black pudding! Truly. I had the fish & chips today and they won't be my last! A lot of love has gone into making this place special. An dheas ar fad!
This is my favorite pub in Portland and also my favorite pub in the history of mankind. The drinks are great, the food is delicious, and the people are amazing. The owner and staff makes sure that everyone feels welcome, and after a couple of visits it's like being at home. This place is family friendly and focused on making the community a happier place. If you haven't been here yet then you're in for an excellent treat!
