In our two days in Portland we lucked into this cute little bistro with lime-green tables and chairs set out on the corner. The ambience was very Parisien and it was great for people watching sitting right on the sidewalk. The food from the house made bread to the ceviche or scallop appetizers and the entrees of lamb or scallops were terrific. Our wine choices were excellent and the bill was very reasonable for such a wonderful meal. The owner made sure that we were enjoying our meal and mentioned that they had only been open two weeks. They deserve great success. They had a bakery/to-go counter beside the the restaurant where we purchased delicious candied orange-peel florentines. It is definitely worth eating here!
Bistro Margot had excellent service and delicious food. The atmosphere was very modern, clean, yet classy at the same time.
I ordered a caesar salad and shared a cheese platter and meat platter with my friends. I also was able to sample their filet mignon and a really delicious cake at the end.
The salad had the perfect amount of dressing, but it's the kind of salad that doesn't come chopped up and ready to eat. You have to cut the leaves but either way it was good.
The cheese platter was delicious. I think I had about 4-5 different types of cheese and was able to pair it with fruit and a some baguette. The meat platter had 4-5 different types of meat with a sample of olives and other items.
The filet mignon literally melted in my mouth.
Overall, I would totally comeback here for dinner. The price point is kind of high for me, but it's definitely a place to be treated well and have amazing food.
This is a terrific place. Simple and pretty, quiet, everything we had was excellent (fillet mignon, salad, cheese platter, pasta primavera), and the are quantities good. [I am not a fan of places that serve two ounces of meat plus a carrot peel. I want food, not food-like decorations.] A wonderful addition to the area. It deserves great success.
