Bistro Bobette was the first Open Table restaurant in Richmond we visited and, eight years later, it still delivers tasty food and fine service. On this visit we started with beet, fennel, and walnut salad with goat cheese then moved on to rabbit for me and beef medallions for my husband. The rabbit was perfectly prepared on a bed of root veggies, olives and spaetzle, well suited to the meat. My husband said the beef was cooked to a perfect medium and the sauce was a creamy peppercorn creation. For dessert we opted for the elderflower creme brulee, a great ending for a fine meal! The chef just switched to his fall menu so the online listing does not show the current options but everything we've ever had at Bistro Bobette has been delicious.
WOW... you cannot go wrong with Bistro Bobette. It reminds me of my favorite French restaurant in SF. Wait staff are highly educated in the food and drinks. Great with pairing drinks with your meal. 😍
Quiet restaurant with a calming atmosphere and scrumptious food! The lunch here is reasonably priced and has a lot of different options. I tried the hot croque and was amazed at how delicious it was. It was served with fries and a curry ketchup (which was also 👍). Every night they seem to also have different specials going on (like a bring your own wine) so those seem worth checking out too!
Lovely atmosphere, excellent wine selection, and wonderful staff. They were extremely helpful in choosing the right wine, and they were very knowledgeable about where said wine is from and how the vines grow. The food was exciting and satisfying. I was full but I definitely wanted to eat more (my American stomach is greedy). I will definitely be back to try their other entrees.
In town for veteran's convention. Chose this for no other reason than it was time to eat & we like nice places. Found a too limited menu, far too long wine list; but, no dark, ale style beer. Wife loved the "skate wing," something new for her. I had the rib eye, smothered in mushroom sauce (oh, those French!). The steak was tender as anticipated, sauce a great accompaniment. Too few pommes fritz were quite tasty. Sandy was efficient & knowledgeable, her recommendations were spot-on. We enjoyed this restaurant - not typically garish French....
Bistro Bobette is a must for lunch. Great Service and the food is uniquely different but very rewarding. My spouse had the corn crepe with chicken, cilantro, avocado, and sauce and it was delicious. I had the stuffed calamari with sauce and it was very good (very different taste which was pleasing and not fishy or chewy). We had the flan for dessert and it was light, flavorful, and had excellent presentation.
Our server was exceptional and ensured we had an enjoyable visit. We will come again!
Over the past five years, Bistro Bobette has only increased in quality of both food and service. The flavors, textures, and presentation of the food are impeccable, and the service is unobtrusive and friendly.
The extra special part is that I can bring my vegetarian friends here for an equally delicious and elegant meal--a rare commodity, indeed.
Even though we didn't have a reservation the hostess worked very hard to get us a table for two. We had the braised rabbit and scallops. Both dishes were very good. The "small plate" of pickled vegetables was barely a plate, but I'm not sure what I expected. I asked for a glass of wine with the entree, and while most servers forget this when I ask the one we had at Bistro Bobette was on top of things all night.
Incredible food. Impecible service. We went there Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. It surpsingly wasn't very busy. The restaurant is small and quaint. Highly recommend the salmon - it was cooked to perfection and is probably one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had.
Had a really nice experience here tonight. Quiet, not too dark atmosphere. Easy to have a conversation. Appetizers were excellent. Wine selection was great. Servers were knowledgable and attentive. Great entrees and desserts were also great. Left happy!
Very nice, quaint spot; nice atmosphere. The bistro steak with red wine sauce was excellent. My wife loved the chic pea crepe (crabmeat). Good wine selection but otherwise, very limited drink choices (coke (not coke products, just coke, water, unsweet tea). Overall very good experience.
Dinner with my editor... Doesn't that sound nice? This is a great place to eat if you're looking for a place to have dinner with your editor!
Across the street from the Berkeley.
Spinach was excellent; had the steak with chimichuri sauce and the dessert that was all whipped cream and meringues. Recommend both.
Great service. Attentive and not overwhelming. Quiet dining room.
