Amazing. Writing a review off of my friends facebook. I used to go to this place years ago, when I was a young kid and we drive up an hour to go to Stonypoint Hospital/VCU Hos every few months. After my doc recommended it to us, we always went. It was a tradition to always go there after. The pizza is all we ever got. Its amazing. The cheese and sauce especially, is so good... I cant even fathom. My father was born and raises in Southern Italy, and he says its the best dang pizza you can get possibly in the tri-state area. I just recently came there a few days ago and had so much nostalgia seeing their family and staff again. They are so friendly and nice, and ontop of the amazing food, its a plus to always coming back. The food was just as good as I remembered. My friend got a chicken parm dinner, and said it was one of best Chix Parms he has ever eaten in his life. He said hes tempted to drive an hour + just to bring some food back home, hes glad I showed em the hidden gem. The setting in general is perfect because it kind of reminds you of home, I honestly cant believe I forgot the waiters name.. But we used to get him years ago, he is one of, if not the most, nicest waiter I have ever seen in my life. A+++ Will definitely come back again next time have a doc appt up there!

I have always wanted to come here but I never got around to it. Big mistake on my part, this might have been the best pizza I have in Richmond and I have been to many places from Mary Angelas, Belmont, Piccolas, 8 1/2, Christian's, candelas, Sergios, meditarraneo, mellow mushroom, and grimaldis (I know the last two are chains, but they are very good). These are all great places with Mary Angela's being the best of the group, but Frank's was simply better and tasted the closest thing to New York. We got a large with mushrooms, pepperoni, and sausage. The mushrooms were great, the sausage was sliced and delicious with both the pepperoni and sausage having a nice spicy bite to it. The sauce was delicious and the seasoning was great with a balanced marriage of basil and oregano. There is a ton of cheese on it (it was great) so make sure you have your plate close by! The bottom crust had light crisp on the outside and was soft on the inside. The crust had a great flavor to it and everything together made the pizza absolutely delicious! I did not expect this pizza to be so damn amazing. I was eating with my mother, who is from Brooklyn, has very high standards for pizza and she thought it was the best pizza in town unequivocally. My older brother is flying in from Los Angeles to help me move to L.A. and I want him to try it before I move so we are going next week. I wish I had discovered this little gem years ago as it is fantastic! I highly recommend anyone who loves pizza to come try it. An another note, the mozzarella sticks were outstanding!

Meaning to write one for a while... have been multiple times. My children along for lunch, and dinner. On special dates with my wife, and just to order pizza. The atmosphere and service are exceptional! The food is top notch. Have tried several dishes on the menu, all were enjoyed and among my favorites. Have enjoyed pizza in Brooklyn and in Italy (Verona, Pisa, and Naples), all the Richmond pizza joints. I agree with a review above until I tried Franks, Mary Angelo's was local fave. Let me tell you having to cull my memory, the extra mozzarella an pepperoni at Franks holds its own. Their mozzarella sticks are second to none! The lasagna is beautiful, a perfect sauce... not too acidic, but deeply flavorful. Wouldn't be surprised if these are local or organic tomatoes. It is simply my favorite restaurant in RVA

The marinara sauce is salty so the pastas are not excellent. Somehow the pizzas come out great so possibly the sauce is different.

Always Fresh. This is one of our favorite little places in Richmond. I have tried many menu items and so has my husband. If they have the sea bass as a special I highly suggest you try it. it is out of this world.
Everything tastes like it as fresh as it can be and the pasta dishes are delicious as well. The staff is always friendly and the prices are reasonable. I always look forward to going there!

I am not sure what others are talking about, but this place wast outstanding! 1st time in and the food and service were great! The spinach ravioli and lobster and crab ravioli with provinsol sauce was one of the best Italian meals I've eaten outside of what my wifes Italian grandmother makes us when we go to Philly to visit.

Everything was made from scratch. Even a side of alfredo sauce. The portions are very generous. Possibly the best mozzerella stix I've ever had.

Frank’s is a hidden gem! Located in a plaza, but worth the drive. Had the penne with chicken & spinach in garlic oil. That was 5 days ago, and I’m still thinking about it. Great setting, bring the kids, very much a family dinning experience.

Last night I had the most amazing white pizza with whipped ricotta on top. It was so good I craved for breakfast - it was still awesome reheated. It was a well seasoned pizza. Not bland and very good crust and not too thick but if you like thick crusts on Thrs they have a thick pies - people talked about the cup pepperoni being fb so good! I felt like family - met two long time locals and a couple that’s been regulars since moving here in 2020. I’ll be back again soon!

Our family simply loved this restaurant. If you blink, you'll miss it and drive right by it. But the food is surely unforgettable. We had the Sicilian pizza...Wow! In all honesty, it's likely the best pizza we've had in RVA. The wings were also fantastic. I would highly recommend this spot and are very excited to try some of their other dishes. We'll be back soon! 🥰

Molto bene! Genuine Italian food! If you're searching for a quaint little spot to cop a squat at for REAL Italian dishes, including REAL hand-tossed pizza, then Frank's is the place. Frank, himself, even makes his rounds to the customers and helps out around the restaurant. Doesn't get better than this!🥰

We've frequently enjoyed eating at this Bon Air restaurant during our years of living in Richmond. The food is excellent and cooked fresh. Their salmon and salads are wonderful! It's great that lower carbohydrate menu choices are available here. We've always had very attentive wait staff while eating there. I look forward to visiting there again for lunch or dinner soon!

Our LARGE 8 topping Frank's Special was such a Treat! I chose Pepperoni, Red Onion🧅, Green Pepper 🫑, Black Olives🫒, Meatballs, Sun dried 🍅 Tomatoes, Thickly Sliced Italian Sausage, Anchovies! The Green Peppers were thick, moist & tender. Anchovies were light and not oily. Each ingredient was balanced and resulted in a tremendously tastey and deliciously satisfying 🍕pie.

Food was amazing and service was even better. The mozzarella sticks are huge and ohhh soo perfect! Cesar salad was fresh and the dressing was fresh you could tell! The guy who helped us tonight was super chill and it didn't feel like uptight fancy shmancy dining but very comforting and chill. Everything was great. 5 stars.

REVISED REVIEW Franks reached out with apologies, the horrible server quit that very night and they refunded the unsatisfactory meal served late and cold. SO, they get KUDOS for doing the right thing and listening to customers! ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW 1. Waiter sullen and rude 2. I asked the difference in the two chiantis on the menu and his response was one is more expensive and better. 3. Took our order with an extremely dour expression, no thank you, NOTHING. Took it and left. 4. Brought artichoke appetizer (don't order, heavily breaded and zero flavor) 5. Brought my son's pizza. 6. I waited. 7. and waited, 8. and waited then almost 20 minutes after the pizza entre' was served flagged down another server.and said cancel my order. He brought it out but my sons pizza was stone cold and neither of us even wanted to eat. MY splurge (veal parmesan) was a waste of money, reheated I assume as the veal was very overdone. 7. Original sullen server NEVER came back with water, apology, is everything OK or anything and after another 10 minutes handed my son a pizza box and put my container on the other side of the table where I could not reach it. WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AND NOBODY SEEMED TO CARE. Food might have been good had it come out on time and hot, not reheated and overcooked.

Great NY style pizza! One of the best I've had in Virginia. Perfect sauce, crust light crispy, and a little spice to the pepperoni.

Frank’s is my go-to restaurant in Richmond’s Bon Air neighborhood. Why: A delectable, extensive representation of Italian cuisine and a setting that’s attractive and inviting. Based on my experience of having received high-quality, friendly, and dependable service through the years, Frank’s has qualified itself as “part of the family.”
