Whenever we are in town we always enjoy lunch at Ettore’s. Today we split their delicious burger and fries. Wonderful presentation—so worth the nominal split fee of $1. I always enjoy an Arnold Palmer made with the Citrus Ice Tea. No photos—we were too hungry.
There are a number of better places near-by to get out-of-this world espresso, but if you want a treat (come la Nonna l'ha preparata), this may be the only authentic Italian bakery in Sac you can rely on. The sheer number of baked delicicies is only eclipsed by their taste. I had cookies with jam, a morning danish and, yes, mille-feuille, all delectable (and no, I did not eat them at the same time). I found the espresso to be a little on the thin side (even though I asked for 'un ristretto'). Not a deal breaker, as I really cane for the dolci!
My go-to for pastry. I work in the area and visit Ettore's around dinner time twice a week. This is excellent, upscale food in a causal, relaxed atmosphere. They have a great patio which is heated in the winter months.
My favorite bakery items are the sandwich-style macaroons (vanilla, chocolate and pistachio), which are the best I've ever eaten. My wife is a carrot cake aficionado, and her favorite slice still comes from Ettore's.
The coffee here is great too. Far better than Starbucks or Peet's, and you'll pay about the same price and (maybe) wait in a similarly long line. But this just forces you to peruse the pastry case (dammit!!).
