The BBQ brisket sandwich (BBQ special of the day: smoked brisket) was excellent. My husband got the felafel and it was also fantastic. There is no question that I would return in the future and recommend to others.
Roxie's has a few locations between Sacramento and the Bay Area. Overall a positive experience however, there are inconsistencies between locations that can disrupt customer experience. The 15th St. location is unique for it's BBQ. I tried the Roxie Meatball Mafia which one of the friendly clerks recommended after I placed my original order of a meatball parm. More on the spicy side with jalapeños, onions and a sour cream dressing. I was hesitant to try it out but accepted the clerks recommendation. Very clean and trendy environment. The sandwich was not appealing based on the appearance and was average in tastebud dept. I'm not sure if it was because of the combination of flavors or the preconceived notion to get a meatball parm. The store does have great options for bread and chips. In addition, I had the chance to ask another person when checking out, if the meatballs were made in-house and they are not - you can taste it. The craft beer selection makes it an essential weekend takeout spot but would be open to exploring other options for lunch during the week specifically based on my food experience (only because of the meatballs). Looking to explore the BBQ menu.
I had a meatball mafia sub for lunch with more flavor than any meatball sandwich I've ever tasted. The service was quick, the place was clean and the food was phenomenal. It's going to be a favorite!
