Friday night was my first trip to your restaurant. I brought an out-of-town guest who was in St. Louis for the holidays and was looking for a nice, higher-end, adult dining experience, as we had spent a lot of time with family (and kids) recently.
We were not disappointed at all.
The reservations were simple and easy. I was able to call ahead on the same day and secure a table. The hostess was very pleasant and even though we arrived early and had become a party of 2 instead of the 3 we had planned on, it was no problem and we were seated immediately. The decor of the restaurant is simple and perhaps a bit quirky, but still very nice, without being stuffy or pretentious.
Our server was excellent. Andrew was prompt without hovering, and our meal was moved along at a really comfortable pace - we weren't being rushed and we also weren't waiting around if we needed anything. He was able to quickly and expertly answer any questions we had about the menu and was generally just pleasant to have around.
The food was also excellent in just about every way. We had the Bistro Steak and the Ozark Mushroom Tagliatelle. Both were great, and actually went really well together. The Brussel Sprout side on the steak had great flavor, and the sprouts were both crispy and slightly tender at the same time, which was a welcome touch.
But the dessert, I have to say, absolutely blew our minds. We had the Creme Broule, which was exactly as you would expect it to be, but the chef did something to the blackberry garnish I had never experienced before. They looked like normal, fresh blackberries on top of the dish, but when you put them in your mouth, they dissolved, or disappeared, or transformed somehow into liquid blackberry flavor on top of the creme. It was like the culinary version of a magic trick. Pretty unexpected, and also pretty awesome.
Anyway, we were both thoroughly impressed by the entire experience and I wanted to express that to the ownership and staff through this review. We will definitely come back, and I will be certain to recommend your restaurant to others - I already have.
Thanks again.
This is a cozy place for brunch. I love the decor. Our food was plentiful and delicious. I could not finish my pancakes, which had a delightful blueberry and blackberry compote. Our bottomless mimosas, as well as our coffee, were refilled as soon as we reached bottom. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, without hovering. We loved talking with Sarah, who was pleased to answer our many questions about the menu. We sat for hours and never felt pushed to leave. I look forward to returning for lunch or dinner.
Celebrated our anniversary there this evening. The atmosphere was great, the drinks were perfectly concocted, the food was unique and tasted amazing. Our waitress Jordan was knowledgeable about every dish served as well as my special cocktail Travis made for me! New favorite place in St. Louis!!!
